Baja&Back - 2-17-2010 at 10:07 PM

Hide the babies & lock up the old ladies. Yes, we are headed south on Mex 1 with 15 rigs!

Sorry if we pee you off, but everyone's a Nomad in Baja. If you're trying to pass us, try CB channel 32. Toot yer horn & wave. Stop by for a cold brown!

At least the vendors will be happy to see us ... :bounce:

saw your last caravan a few weeks ago crossing the arroyo going back into Los Barriles from North Beach(?).... as I passed those travelers I noted to my friend that none of them were smiling.... trip overload or just wanting to get over the trip???? there were some large units and it looks like they had all the comforts of home... just did not seem happy????

David K - 2-18-2010 at 09:27 AM

Canadians that don't want to go back to the 8 feet of snow, maybe?

Wouldn't you get mighty tired of looking at the back of another rig and wallowing in their exhaust?
But, I hope they have fun in Baja.

I thought the same thing at first. But then remembered Barry noted they were doing San Quintin to Catavina. Wow. 113 miles in one day! Obbviously this crowd is more about parking, schmoozing and partying.

:lol::lol::lol:

Are you KIDDING??? That last tour had 8 Margarita parties, 6 potlucks & arrived back TWO days late because they voted to stay extra days at Santispac. Haven't seen happier partyers in years.
Hope this trip's RVers do as well.

Off to Santispac today. Drop on by!!! ;D

David K - 2-22-2010 at 08:04 AM

Glad you have a fun group Barry!

Hey Goat....Here's your opportunity to be a hood ornament, your fifteen minutes of fame.
When what's left of you slides down the front of the Winney, you'll be able to lube the steering.
Make yourself useful for a change.

Barry,

Passed your group on Friday north of Jesus Maria. Have a great trip.

Ken

absinvestor - 2-23-2010 at 09:15 AM

Just curious we are heading North from Los Cerritos. Do we know the arrival date and how long the caravan will be at Santispac? Thanks Ron and Patty

Casey67 - 2-23-2010 at 07:11 PM

2 extra days at Santispac? If they went to Playa Coyote they'd still be there :) I pulled in on Jan 20th and can't drag myself away except to pick up family at the airport in Cabo tomorrow.

If you've had fish tacos at Juan Carlos y Bertha's across from Burro you'd know why.

Good luck with the caravan. See you on the beach.

mulegemichael - 2-23-2010 at 07:35 PM

you guys passed us yesterday just south of santa rosalia...you ARE taking your time!

absinvestor - 2-23-2010 at 11:05 PM

Hey MulegeMichael- if I read your email correctly I think you saw the caravan on Monday the 22nd just North of Bahia Concepcion. Any idea if they stay 2 or 3 days at Concepcion? Thanks. Ron

Baja&Back - 2-24-2010 at 08:38 AM

Hey, Ron. Currently at Santispac 'till Thurs AM. Then to Rivera del Mar in Loreto for 2 days.

Had a rip roaring party at Ana's last nite. Bob did a great job on the music. We crawled back across the lot. Feel like road kill this morning. Why those tire marks on my back??? :?:

PS: HI to all those we pass on the hiway!!!

[Edited on 2-24-2010 by Baja&Back]

Am I Reading This Right?

Sounds like a good enough excuse to make the trip to me.

Bajahowodd - 2-24-2010 at 02:46 PM

Yes, but is the Loreto airport that expensive and/or inaccessible from elsewhere?

tripledigitken - 2-24-2010 at 02:50 PM

In a word YES.

Two year's ago I priced a RT ticket from SD to Loreto......$850

Cabo was about $250 then.

Flying into Loreto for Southern California folks is just ridiculous.

Bajahowodd - 2-24-2010 at 03:13 PM

Wow! $250? To Cabo? That's a rare price these days. Maybe in the middle of summer.

oldjack - 2-24-2010 at 03:19 PM

Today booked USAir from Boi to SJD $410(rt) about the going rate now.....

I know you did. Wasn't looking to show you up. Ah, I still remember flying Aerocalifornia for $150.

Re Cabo to pick up relatives.

Yes, I was expecting to be at the East Cape by then/now but love Playa Coyote enough to make the trip. It was a good opportunity to stock up at Costco and pick up a simple solar kit for the beach here. The driving is over with now and we're back to enjoying the beach and avoiding the internet :) I'll be down to the East Cape once the water is warm enough for cold-averse snorkeling.

Saw the caravan roll by the other day when we were going the opposite direction. Have fun guys!

vandenberg - 3-1-2010 at 11:57 AM

The fare for flying into Loreto from the US is outrageous.
But that's what you get when you're the only game in town.

Compare those fares to a fare I just booked with Volaris in April, R/T La Paz- Guadalajara for below $140.00 and gouging is obvious.

[Edited on 3-1-2010 by vandenberg]

Bajahowodd - 3-1-2010 at 12:59 PM

There's a catch-22 with Loreto. I have to believe that since only one airline is servicing Loreto from LA, using regional jets and not flying daily, that there just isn't all that much demand for the service. Alaska/Horizon is fairly savvy about such things, and if there was any sort of equivalence between lower fare and increased demand, they'd do something about it, whether flying larger planes or more frequent service. That said, if there really was unserviced demand, wouldn't you think that Volaris would enter the market? Gonna get interesting, assuming the Villa Group project gets to the point of occupancy. They need traffic to sell time shares.
