well sort of a reverse baja trip as he just arrived here from Mulege/Playa Frambes in a record day and a half driving marathon - and has turned around
headed back home after a 4 hour rest.
he's leaving in his new, sort of.... car for his resort employee.
so Susan - if you're checking in here - Bob is A ok thus far but has an unbelieveable story to tell you about what happened during the drive here - it
blew my mind - i can't say more - it's his to tell.
what an adventure though!
the other thing is i had a friend fly back sunday in his twin that had a seat for bob direct to AZ - i plumb forgot to coordinate it for him!!
see you when i do.

we never heard any more so my guess is by now he got to CA ok and has called you.
what an adventure!
almost makes me want to drive south....capt. mike - 2-19-2010 at 02:51 PM
Susan i just talked to him, he's in Upland and is sending you an email now.
he says all is good, the car performs flawlessly.
uses no oil, gets 27 mpg and is now ultra clean with a fresh wax job.Bob H - 2-19-2010 at 07:43 PM

all i can say is when "internet hich-hiking" watch out who you ride with
frisk the occupants and empty the car and check EVERYTHING BEFORE you get in
just take my word...
on the bright side
he was an excellent driver and had a pretty good car

Jeeeezo....You'll never get home at that speed. Better start walking.Phil S - 2-20-2010 at 07:25 AM
Bob. If your happy with 27mph, I've got a couple cars that would get you "really" excited sitting in my backyard.
And Mike. "your the man"capt. mike - 2-20-2010 at 09:12 AM
now i have "donated" 2 cars to baja over the years.
my original 1987 Nissan pathfinder, Serenidad "airport car", delivered to Mulege for me around 2003 by that famous baja icon of the skies Jimmy
Smith.....now likely doing about 27 mph around town someplace....purchased by
a friend for his housekeeper for $500 after i quit mulege.
6 years in mulege parked next to the ocean sure took its toll! but it ran and ran and ran, like the battery bunny.
the rust however seemed to grow like cancer.
now Bob has my old 1995 Infiniti J30 for his staff car.
will be interesting to see how it fares after a few years at la Playa. Bob and Susan - 2-20-2010 at 06:22 PM
sorry...i'm getting OLD...27mpg
still ok
no problems
runs like a top
great deal
thanks capt mikecapt. mike - 2-21-2010 at 10:20 AM
glad to hear Bob.
you know - that was gonna be a target for a future "baja beater".
that's why we kept it so long once paid for.
we'll source another one day but hopefully get someone to drive it down.Hook - 2-21-2010 at 02:45 PM
I've always liked the styling of the old J30s. Reminds me a bit of the Jags from the mid 60s. I think that is what they intended as many of them also
came in that Jaguar green.capt. mike - 2-22-2010 at 09:38 AM
couldn't agree more Hook.
was my esposa's daily driver before she became unable to work due to a few physical maladies she has to contend with now.
those mid 90s Nissan products were top quality!
i see quite a few on the road still.
economy with full power and luxury.
