Today after test run.

This morning a couple of my neighbors and I took the Trophy out for a sea trial of about 45-50 miles. From my house in Coyote Bay out of the Bay of Conception, around the lighthouse point and south down the coast a few miles past the old mine. The boat/engine ran very well. With 3 men, gear, cooler, etc. on board, we clocked 35mph max on my gps (which matched the onboard speedometer). I found that cruising at 27-28 mph was my choice for economy and comfort. Even at full speed only a few feet away from the engine we were able to carry on a normal conversation..a quiet ride.

We encountered some swells and chop, but the Trophy's flared hull handled it very comfortably, according to our forward-seated passenger. The flared bow threw the water way out to the side. We never took a drop of water onboard ..or in our faces..a dry ride.

Well, since we were out there anyway, we trolled some Mirrolures at about 5.5 mph for a short time near some structure I know about. ..And were rewarded with this prized lizard fish.

Well, maybe in certain circles it is prized..but not in OURS! Back into the sea it went. As you will note by the towel, a little too slimy for my tastes.


And now the Trophy sits tugging at it's mooring..eager to get back out there and catch a REAL fish.....


...just no more lizards.

Hey Pomp, my co-pilot got a couple job opps in La Paz today. I may be joining you soon! She has kin in San Bruno, and I love Concepcion! Hey, a walleye boat could work. The Sea Of Cortez reminds me a lot of Lake Michigan. Calm one minute, trying to kill you the next.
