I have some friends bugging me to find some information on going to the East Cape for a stay at Rancho Leonaro, they have set the Date for 10-10-10,
they do this in sequence with the numbers.
I told them I would check with some NOMADS they know what's going on.
Iwanted to know if someone could help with pricing, 12 people flying in from LA they are couples want their own rooms 5 Days 4 Nights Breakfast and
Dinner, (2) Days of Fishing.
I told them I would find out if anyone knows the Drill in the area.
Thanks for any help for these people, this would be a money maker for the Resort, they will do it If the price is right, or go elsewhere, but this is
their choice at this time.
Thanks much for any help.bajafreaks - 2-26-2010 at 04:35 PM
Have you/they tried getting in touch with R.Leonaro on their website ? It's not a bad place to stay they have small rooms two attached to one another,
their food is okay, cool little bar (ring game) and nice pool, it can be a little pricey but thats just my opinion. It's about 10-15 minutes to town
so a car is a must.I would recommend them to maybe rent a house on the beach ,with that big of a group of people they could all share the cost and it
would very affordable. There's also hotels in town that would be another option.fishingmako - 2-26-2010 at 04:43 PM
They are set on going to R. Leonaro this has been a long time dream, there are no other options even on the other Resorts in the area, so was just
wondering what a package deal they could get away with, what is a decent price for what I described?
With not alot of people heading South then, what do you think per person price?
The web price is different than what could be negotiated????bajafreaks - 2-26-2010 at 04:54 PM
All I can think they could do would be to call Rancho Leonaro directly to see if they would give them a deal. That time of year it definatly wouldn't
be busy, if fact they may want to double check to see if they are open. Had some friends go down to the east cape last December, they went by R.L. and
it was closed??? John Ireland is the owner if they could possibly hook up with him directly, nice guy.bajafreaks - 2-26-2010 at 05:56 PM
I don't know what I was thinking but I'm sure they will be open and proabaly busy as well. That's right around the Bisbee time, if fact I've stayed
there a few years ago and it was early november and there was a quite a few people staying there. Sorry for the confusion...it's friday.sd - 2-26-2010 at 07:50 PM
Rancho Leonero is my favorite place.
Prices are listed on the web site and are correct. Keep in mind 3 meals a day are included. When fishing they pack your lunch to go.
A 10% discount is available for Lets Talk Hookup members. Google that name and join, it's inexpensive.
Airfare varies from $275-800 RT including taxes, so your search might want to start with the flight cost.
The hotel can arrange a van large enough for your party to meet you as you arrive, and this is an additional expense. There will be a driver waiting
for you with a sign board showing your name. The drive from the airport to the Ranch is about an hour, and I enjoy the drive every time. You can stop
for some cold refreshments a few minutes from the airport to take along for the drive if you wish.
There website has all the answers and costs. Call the office and speak with Genie Ireland, whose father John owns the Ranch, or Gary, who has perfect
knowledge to help make your trip enjoyable.
Once at the Ranch you will find GM Gary Barnes-Webb available to answer questions, and often John Ireland is there and a very nice host for your stay.
It's not an inexpensive trip when you add up all the costs, but is an incredible place for fishing and relaxing. Great outdoor patio where dinner is
served in nice weather, and at times it is perfect during October. However, watch the weather as September - October can bring Hurricanes.
Go and enjoy. It's a slower pace that I find nice.capt. mike - 2-27-2010 at 07:33 AM
stayed at RL in early 90s.
we landed at Los Barriles in front of Las Palmas and cabbed it to RL.
3 days of the best diving ever at Pulmo, but a long 1.5 hr panga ride each way. they used to have a strip but hurricane Gilberto washed it out and
they decided not to re build it since they had so much travel into Los Cabos who'd van them in.
great place. the founder John Ireland died a few years ago. he was one of those baja legends.mulegemichael - 2-27-2010 at 08:09 AM

Thanks everyone, this site is so awesome for information, where in the World could you find out more?
Really good people and very knowledgable, and people that have been around along time.
Thanks again so very much.sd - 2-27-2010 at 11:53 AM
John Ireland is alive. That story went around a while back. Not sure of the confusion.
Roy Baldwin aka Sr. Divertido passed away at too young of an age some time back. Roy was a Baja adventurer who worked for the Hotel. He had many
adventures off road and you can read his logs. Lots of fun trips and he was open to share his favorite spots.Terry28 - 2-27-2010 at 12:04 PM
Palmas de Cortez is not a bad place to hang out at either....capt. mike - 2-27-2010 at 01:28 PM
well - imagine that! glad to hear - i did read about Baldwin before.
too bad the old strips on the east cape are for the most part gone....
used to be EVERY fishing resort there had their own
i been to most of them until they began to disappear.
Rancho and Spa Buena Vista had great dirt
now we have only 2 left at resorts.
maybe 4 in all if you count Rincon and los Frailes.
