The last couple of days saw some campers on our beach. They work for Conapesca and are busy going up and down the coast putting into play new
regulations for commercial fishing boats. Each boat pays 4,000 pesos for a new computer chip which will help identify legal boats from those which
might be involved in illegal activities. It's just for charter boats but it comes at a time when many charter operators are hard pressed to keep their
businesses going. We have more than 200 boats in Palmas bay working charter so it will have people talking and wondering just where the money goes,
how much good it will do. I think it's an annual fee and includes some form of insurance protection.
