Best Place to Purchase a Mattress in Ensenada?

LaTijereta - 3-5-2010 at 09:47 PM

Looking to stop in Ensenada next month to purchase a good mattress in Ensenada?
What kind of selection do they have at Costco?

DENNIS - 3-5-2010 at 09:49 PM

I think the brand is Sealy.

Thanks.. I know there are others places along that same stretch..Heading south so this should be an easly stop.

Don't have my receipt handy, but about 8000 pesos for the set......includes tax........I think they also knocked off about 350 pesos when I flashed my Mexican senior discount card.

Shopped all over Ensenada and found COSTCO to have what I wanted. Segundas have mattress sets that come from US motels/hotels, wrapped in plastic.....and other stores just have mattresses but no box springs........if all you need is a mattress, you might check the Ensenada Wal-Mart

I had Saul Davis (Saul's Tienda in Mulege) bring me down 2 sets of California Kings about 8 years ago. Great deal and I didn't have to drive more than 20 miles. :D

Am I to understand that my "USA" Costco card will not work in Baja?

If I do not have a Costco card, what is the fee to get in the Ensenada store:?:
Or should I just check out Wal Mart across the street if I am only needing a mattress?

Bob just mentioned above, 50 bucks. I just renewed mine at the cash register and I thought that was 30 or so.

Really? You don't have a Costco card? Did you just come out of a twenty year coma?

Bajahowodd - 3-6-2010 at 01:17 PM

For what it's worth, no Sam's Club in Ensenada, but two in TJ and one apiece in La Paz and Cabo.

Bob and Susan - 3-6-2010 at 03:05 PM

well...costco wouldn't take my US costco card...

but someone told me that changed:light:

havent been back since

oh yea ... we dont have a costco card anymore
no costco in mulege

we live in the past here...(20 years);D;D

go to both walmart and costco and shop

Be aware that all different sizes of mattresses in Baja are different widths, but the lengths are all the same. That means a couple of things. One, the queen size is queen width, but shorter than American queen length by at least 4 inches. Secondly, American queen sheets will not fit properly with regard to the length, American queen sheets will be 4 inches or more too long. Witdth OK. I didn't realize that until it was too late. Who would ever think that Mexican sizes would not be the same as American sizes...weird!

If I had it to do all over again, I would really look hard for the American version of queen size in Baja. They exist, but are really rare. Queen is already rare enough, King is alot more plentiful for some reason, albeit in the weird short length Mexican version.

yea...we bought all our beds in montclair califorina
then imported them

the only problem is if you haul it yourself
it can get wet and dirty really fast
or
fly out of the truck

lots of accidents every year involving beds

remember "bedman"...
he gave me good advice regarding buying beds:light::light:

Queen size sheets

I know this is an older post, but want to throw out there that I have two yummy US queen mattresses I have no need for, along with a bunch of other stuff I am having a hella time trying to get here (that I have an immediate need for!).

I'm still searching these boards for posts re movers who cross the border (I'm in La Fonda, my stuff is in Long Beach).

But point is, if I figger out how to get it here, and it doesn't cost extra (or if someone wants to pay difference if and when I find someone to help) these are two minimally used great quality mattresses for free.

Grateful for the folk here.
