Gonzaga Bay,,Adios...Los Animas,,hola

cj5orion - 3-7-2010 at 07:42 AM

Thanx for all the help about "ice cubes" !
I like the lil icemakers,,,that'll work really good.

Although new to this forum,I'll be into a 'new adventure'
come April as well.My partner in Gonzaga has sold out, after 12 years, and what with Rafeal screwing up Gonzaga the way he has/will....well,,,,Adios.
I'll be goin down to los animas(actually a small point near las animas) to install the solar, desal, etc
for Bajaair.
Long story short.Bay of LA is the jump off point for the panga trip out to the casa,in the past I've fished the midriff area, but never made 'landfall' on Bay of LA.
SO,,,,I'm not familiar with the 'lay of the land' and I'm wonderin ??????

I've heard theres no Pacificos there ?:?:
Any good/cheap "hotels" ?
Any place for a hot,not warm shower ?
Any place for temporary secure storage ? ie;my truck, occasional materials, extra gear.
Possibly any 'nomads' have a place there and might be interested in 'any of the above' ? Maybe 'bartering' my construction skills in trade ?

I'm sure,in time,I'd fiqure this all out for myself,but I'm goin there,more of a 'work' trip,not so much leisure,a lil,yea.but.
Soooo.....jus wonderin.....jus "puttin it out there"

cj
You heard wrong about the Pacificos, lots of Pacifico here.
Several places to stay and get hot showers. Right in town is the Costa del Sol motel, but others are nearby also. Guerrmos comes to mind.
As far as storage, check with Sammy Diaz, I think they still have a few garages they will rent monthly.
I am about 5 miles south of town so probably not a convenient place to store stuff.
If you need any more info when you get here you can call me on VHF ch 68, "Rancho Pacifico"
Good Luck,
Larry

There are many stores, taco stands, motels, campos in and near Bahia de los Angeles... See Mia's web site for details: http://www.bahiadelosangeles.info She has a forum as well...

Well,,, its a long story.....but....
last year,he "cleared" the "back forty" of brush and "top soil"
This has created a dust bowl situation, very bad !
Around Nov. he started a "seawall" all along the beach, from the "rockhouse restaurant" to the south to the end of "his" palapas, now he's "filling in" the sandy palapa areas with some sort of clay/sand mix ?
Although the Rancho Grande store/restaurant improvements are nice, everything else is TERRIBLE !!!!
Of all the "residents" of the palapas, almost everybody has either stopped going down or sold out.

Its not written in stone yet,but it appears so.
He's interested in "improving" his casa's,but in a very "eco-friendly" way !!!!!
Probably be there mid-April ?

Woody, we go to BOLA last week of May first week of June every year and have never been disappointed with the fishing. Good yellowtail and bottom fishing. Also caught sqiud and sand sharks on the same trip. We will be there again this year Maybe we will cross paths. Have a great trip. Connie

Sounds very interesting. We, too, are in the south end of the bay and will be there in late June/early July.
If you are in the area give a holler.

South end of Gonzaga ?
Bring "dust protection" ie;goggles, some sort of a mask, tarps.etc

naw,he's jus been on gen. power, solars comin,he bought the Xantrex system we have at Gonzaga.
hey,,,we still have another inverter and 2 boosters for sale, anybody interested ?
Yep,I'll keep ya posted.I dont know what "communication" he has there though? Is there maybe "public" wireless available in B of LA ? :?:

larryC - 3-8-2010 at 08:02 AM

Not sure what kind of communication you are expecting here in BoLA, most people use a marine radio, and the gringos here use ch 68 as the local net. The Mexicans use ch 16. No cell service, but there is a phone store and there are internet cafes in town. Down at Alacran, where Kevins place is the vhf will be pretty spotty since there is a range of hills between here and there. Alacron is about 10 miles south of BoLA and is accessible by boat only. Beautiful place but pretty isolated.
