The Hump and its sister restaurant, Typhoon, one floor below have been at Santa Monica Airport for many years. I have been to the Hump, but inasmuch
as I am really not a big sushi fan, the bulk of my visits have been to Typhoon, a very eclectic place where you can order such delicacies as crickets.
That said, I can only imagine that given the environment of LA/ Hollywood, there has been ever increasing pressure, especially for sushi restaurants
to keep kicking it up a notch, I am not very surprised. The underlying villain in this is the Japanese government, who has subverted a research waiver
to instead provide whale meat on the consumer market. With all due respect, I understand that Japan, with limited real estate, and being surrounded by
the sea, could have a vastly different perspective on the right and wrong here. anyone priced Kobe beef lately?

Seriously. Check out their dinner menu. It ain't Applebees.

They say a bluefin tuna can yield $150,000 of sushi - I guess a whale could yield a billion dollars of sushi !!
*Hey Bajahowodd what are ya doing up at Santa Monica Airport? I am based there and have to admit doin some imbibing at the Typhoon. The Hump is one of
those stupid $500 for a small meal place and I never go up there.

Used to work in West LA around Bundy and Wilshire. When we weren't going to Valentino, we were at Typhoon.

If no whale sushi, how about whale oil? (Just kiding Shari)

actually we use to run down to the beach if a whale washed up fresh dead an make a cross and put a bucket under it to collect whale oil...it is the
very best thing for keeping your tools oiled up...kinda stinky though!
