In about a week we want to go to Baja....through Mexicali and San Felipe to Gonzaga Bay...in our new truck. The *&^&%ed DMV can't get us a
license plate until about 90 days from now. So I need to understand the risks and rules for taking a new truck with no plates and only the window
registration to Baja.
I'd love to hear what you think about this but I'd love it double if you had concrete and real time experience with this.
Thanks

I have many times taken a NEW truck into Baja before the plates are on it!
1) Make sure you update your Mexican insurance to get the new truck on it. In the place where a license # goes, they type in NEW CAR.
2) Make sure you US insurance is changed for your new truck AND have the temp. or perm. ID card from your insurance company that lists the new truck
on it. The U.S. agent needs to see something that matches your truck to you, and that worked for us.

Note no plates yet on my '05 Tacoma... its second Baja trip. The first trip was the SAME day I got it!. My 2010 went to Bahia Santa Maria on New
Year's without plates.

I have taken 2 vehicle into baja and never had a problem. I live here and it took 1 of the time to get back up to the States 4 months before I had
plates. Never stopped.
Right now I am waiting for current tags for our car that ran out in Jan. not worried. they tags are paid but up in Garden Grove.
Just make sure you get full coverage. Just in case
