Well, there's always those inquisitive little Army guys.
Thanks for asking, Barry. We're due for an update on the road work. Haven't heard anything for a while.wilderone - 3-18-2010 at 10:48 AM
There is a construction area (construction of 4-lanes), where traffic is diverted to dirt side roads in short sections. They slow you down to 15 mph,
and be alert for them - sometimes confusing and the construction vehicles are close by or in traffic.Fred-o - 3-18-2010 at 02:08 PM
I was up & down on it 10 days ago and it was as Wilderone described.
The wait time at Tecate however is becoming worse all the time. We were backed up to the turn off from the highway (well before the steep hill) but it
only took about 50 minutes to get across. This was about 9:30 am on a wednesday.
I do not understand the reason as tousism is supposed to be way off. Maybe locals, I didn't check "plates".
Coming back across we were pulled into "declaration" and I had just bought a new generator for my house. Needless to say it got more expensive, and
I'm glad I had enough in Pesos to pay the duty, as I would have had to make a trip to the local bank to exchange dollars if I had not. I really don't
mind the duty ($150.00 USD) as I have never been stopped before. Too bad it was when I made the biggest "import" in years however. I usually go back
through SY, but decided too much chance of being turned around.mulegejim - 3-18-2010 at 07:44 PM

Came through Tuesday - Mex3 to Tecate - the road was in great shape most of the way. Majority of the construction is finished. Some dirt but graded
and no problem. Less than twenty minute wait at the border crossing at 10:30 AM. Jim
