Food Cravings in Canada

Nan&D - 3-17-2010 at 06:32 PM

All too soon we'll be joining that migration of seasonal workers that heads to Canada for the summer.
Needless to say, we get used to eating Good Fish in Asuncion, and the withdrawal hits hard. Last year we bought 2 tins (pictured below in quantity) of locally tinned fish--almost as a joke. Well the joke was on us! This is a fantastic product, and we cried that we only had 2 cans.
You can pick it up in Asuncion at the Co-op, or in Viscaino at both Sotres.....
We are taking alot more than is pictured here. Not looking forward to work, but lunches will be great!
Stop by and I'll make you a sandwich,
N

Delicious, if you're 12 or under.

More:

Vegemite is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract, a by-product of beer manufacturing, and various vegetable and spice additives.

Ingredients are:

Yeast extract, salt, malt extract, colour (caramel), vegetable flavours, vitamins (niacin, thiamine, riboflavin).

Australian children are brought up on Vegemite from the time they're babies. It is said that Australians are known to travel all over the world with at least one small jar of Vegemite in their luggage, for fear that they will not be able to find it.

If you grew up in Australia the urge to have Vegemite can arise at any time decades later. It's like smoking. You never lose the urge completely.
