Can anyone recommend a clean, safe motel? It also has to have secure overnight parking due to load we are bringing down.

thanks!

Cowboy...have a chained up entrance at night...nice and new and clean...I can call em and make a reservation if you want....or Caracoles.

Bajahowodd - 3-29-2010 at 02:13 PM

Malarrimo's lot is bigger, but I don't think it's any more secure. In case you're going to be arriving later than 4pm or so, you ought to take Shari up on her offer, because both places have a limited number of rooms.

If you don't need fancy, in fact if you are ok with something more old style, try the Las Ballenas-----very basic, super nice family and they live on the property. We have never been concerned about things in the back of our truck when we are there.

Our choices for food----fancy, Santo Remedio. Basic, the roach coach taco stand on the main street. Gees, I hate calling it the roach coach because it is very clean and the food is very fresh, but it does identify which one it is.

Edit---just heard that Santo Remedio closed---really a shame, but it was tucked away out of sight. Guess we look for another spot---don't care much for the most popular one.

That's too bad. San Remedio was the classiest in town. But it comes as no great surprise. Not just tucked out of sight, but also probably victim to the development of a number of tourist-related businesses on the East end of town, closer to Mex 1.

GO TO RICE AND BEANS at San Ignacio. Primo Ambience !

Bajahowodd - 3-30-2010 at 05:00 PM

Oh, no! Rice & Beans is a decent choice for meals. But their rooms are, to give them the benefit of the doubt, basic. Either of the two places Shari mentioned in Guerrero Negro provide a significantly more comfortable accommodation than does Rice & Beans. We've stayed at them all. I was sadly disappointed with Rice & Beans. In my opinion, it would not take much investment for them to upgrade to a point where I could recommend them. But, different strokes.

We ate at Santo Remedios Mar 24th 2010, and had a great meal.

Bajahowodd - 3-31-2010 at 04:29 PM

So. Are they open or closed???
