BajaNomad

mainland mexico

Baja Nomad is the best site I have ever seen. Early this year, Patty and I spent a couple of months traveling Baja and the info obtained from this site was invaluable. We had a wonderful trip and will be returning to Baja for 3 or 4 months next winter. We're leaving in late May or early June for a RV trip down the Emerald Coast to Cancun and beyond. Does anybody know of a site similar to Baja Nomad that relates to mainland Mexico? Thanks Ron and Patty

Whoa !! Costa Esmeralda. I spend a week there with my wife 10/09 and about two years in the state of Veracruz. Beautiful area north of the city of Veracruz. and about two years in the state of Veracruz. While in the city of Veracruz, do not forget the historic attractions and of course the Zocalo.
Check the wheather. Sometimes is really windy with lots of rain. Actually it rains for what seems to be the end of the world but only last 20-30 minutes if it is not an storm. Hotels are a bit expensive. Not sure cost on RV locations but I remember seen few.
In your way to Cancun you MUST stop to see the Palenque Mayan ruins and water falls in the state of Chiapas.

Also, check out The Lonely Planet, Thorntree travel forum. Goggle "Lonely Planet, Thorntree" tons of info.
The "and beyond" is the best part of the Yucatan peninsula.

We spent 5 weeks last year RVing the mainland's Pacific coast and found this book extremely useful for finding RV parks:

When I was a wandering hippy I went to palenque. In the hills nearby the hongos magicos grow and I was partaking of that delicacy. I meandered back to the waterfall, took off all my clothes and went swimming. I was sitting on a log thinking "wow, i finally made it to paradise"
I then noticed small red ticks all over my body (+/- 200 of the little bastards). i was sitting in a nest of them. I pulled a few off but due to my headspace i thought "oh well...they need a place to live too"
I talked this german senorita into rubbing oil all over me to smother them  but most off them were removed in scratching fits in the middle of the night.
i found the last one on mi huevos about a week later while riding the segunda clase train back north. :wow:

MM: now that's funny but I'm wondering how you got rid of that last one. Didn't your fellow travelers object?

Thanks again to everybody. Great info. Ron and Patty

Easier to do without the miracle molecules coursing through your brain! Or perhaps more difficult?
