4/1/10 Has the rain made it to Ensenada and south today?

BajaWarrior - 4-1-2010 at 04:29 AM

Raining in San Diego right now.

Looking for a road/weather report as the day progresses for weather below Ensenada.

We're leaving for La Bocana BCN in the morning (Friday) which includes a 16 mile long dirt road from the highway to the coast.

I'd love to hear a rain report of that area and central coastal baja (2 part trip starting sat 4/3) .

South of Ensenada on Punta Banda it rained pretty heavy all night. It's still raining but light now at 6:30 am on Thursday. I'll see if I can get GC to post how much we got from his weather station.

BW, that 16 miles is a tad longer now. It's now the high road only out to La Bocana, the low road is gone. Big changes out there from the storms.

Dano's Right!

I was there a week ago today, and the river has inundated the valley as we knew it. Some of the farms have lost a lot of land to the wash out. The road is OK, but you must slow way down in places and watch out for on-coming cars as the raod is really narrow in places. You get on the "upper" road right where that cattle guard is that narrows you to one lane. It then rejoins the lower road in the same area as before.

The Estuary by the store is huge, and a lot of the old campground is underwater. The old wooden bridge across the "wash" is gone and laying beside the road in pieces. The high-water mark on a building next to the store tells the tale.

It's fun to see, just drive carefully, and the road is pretty rough.

We did not ty to get of to Punta China, so I don't know if the road has been fixed enough to get accross the river, but I imagine so. Lots of people on the other side, plus the Cemex plant. Good Luck.

Thanks for the road report guys (DanO & Fred-o).

I was afraid the rain would dip that far this morning (4-1).

Looks like the truck will change from White to Brown real quick... Still can't wait to get there and get settled in... This photo taken about 16 years ago.
