bajabound2005 - 4-14-2010 at 02:39 PM

Any other Nomads doing the Rosarito-Ensenada Fun Bike Ride on Saturday, April 17? Or El Retorno on Saturday, April 24?

BAJACAT - 4-14-2010 at 07:54 PM

MY SON WILL KATH, I wil be driving Bigred...(my truck)...

bajabound2005 - 4-15-2010 at 06:35 AM

then I guess we'll see you at the 3 cabezas?

bajadock - 4-15-2010 at 09:15 PM

Bajacat, hope I find you and yours Saturday at the finish. See below.

Preparing a cajun/seafood stew for Saturday's dinner. ALLNOMADS welcome here at the Pub on Punta Banda at 5p.m.-ish.

Bajabound2005 has kicked serious a$$ during her training for 6 months. C'mon down to the post-race party in downtown Ensenada to check out BB05 and the Punta Band Bike And Live Longer(BALL) bike team doing this... http://popup.lala.com/popup/360569458057774701

My offer still stand for any Nomad who beats our P.B. BALL Team member best time: 2 beverages of your choice at the beverage emporium of your choice. If that doesn't work, Pacificos, margueritas and vinos tintos are available gratis at the Pub on days ending in y/english.

Bajahank, gotta find you at finish. 044-646-121-9883 for you and Nomads, but you gotta give me the secret handshake(Pacifico).

Bajabrass, I promise to wave at you from the last La Mision speedbump, as we head up the thrill of a hill. C'mon down to Ensenada and join us.

BAJACAT - 4-15-2010 at 10:48 PM

ok see you guys there...

irenemm - 4-15-2010 at 11:05 PM

bajadock
really beautiful picture
Good Luck to all and stay safe

postholedigger - 4-17-2010 at 08:26 AM

Where the heck did you take that photo from? Helicopter?

bajadock - 4-18-2010 at 09:00 AM

Missed meeting Cat and Bajahank. Great party in Ensenada and another here at the Pub for food and more beverages.

Our Punta Banda Bike And Live Longer(B.A.L.L.) team kicked some serious butt. Bajabound2005 blew past her goal at 3:08. She placed near the top of the women's category and left lots of guys' screaming lungs in the dust.

Our third member, "Surfer Dude", was just over 3:40, making his comeback from bypass surgery.

We suspect that our one team member that clocked 2:32 used performance enhancing drugs...or enhanced Pacifico ballenas.

BAJACAT, hope to meet you soon. Your son's good taste shows that he chose the right father!

I'm still sleepy from the previous night's cervezas, under the "D" in SALIDA in front of the pink chick in your start photo.

Here is part of our Punta Banda B.A.L.L. team celebration at the post race fiesta, front row, in front of the band.

Dennis: I'm still married to that other half; or was that actually a compliment? And Doc: still waiting to see those "other" photos!

shari - 4-19-2010 at 07:10 AM

Looks like fun was had by all. How many participants this year? Last time I rode that 'race' in the 80's there were 15,000. Some friends who started near the back of the pack took forty minutes just to cross start line! What an after party!

bajabound2005 - 4-19-2010 at 09:35 PM

max # reported from all years is in the 10,000 range. This year was around 5,000 and it was still crowded on the road!

Thanks, Shari. I'm buffer but not buffest, by far! Seems like no matter what I do, there's that layer of fat over the waistband that I can't get rid of. Liposuction may be the only choice. And yes, Bajamigo loves the new bod!

Except for...

The motorists lined single-lane from the toll gate into Ensenada. What fun they had.

Not fun. I was caught in that mess about fifteen years ago north of Rosarito. The cars were parked on the Toll Road all the way back to Val's Market and the traffic was doing two miles an hour. It took a couple of hours and a twelve pak to get where the traffic was moving again.

Punta Banda Bike And Live Longer team challenges Nomads to work on health in 2010.

We also hope to see more Nomads at Sept 25 Rosarito-Ensenada 50 mile ride, post-ride fiesta in downtown Ensenada and the dinner party on Punta Banda later that evening.

EGL, you are one fast cat. Dennis, you are now my first resource for all endurance athletic news. ;D:saint:

OK...You can count on me, but what is it? Something you eat or what?

bajabound2005 - 4-21-2010 at 06:08 PM

Doc, I think that Sept post-party best be at our house (the one with the full bar). How about paella? Unfortunately, it's also the day of the Punta Banda Yacht Club Fish Fry...

I have it on my calendar and hope to be able to make it. It's been too long.

As far as fast goes that should be - was - not are. ;D.

In the 80's I rode 150+ miles per week and did the ride five seperate times mostly by myself. One year I talked seven friends into joining me and we worked as a 'team' until the bottom of the grade when it was every man for himself. We got to La Mision quickly. The downgrade back to the coast is the fastest I have ever been on a bicycle. I got beat by two of the guys I brought by about five minutes! I did invite them back the following year anyways.

Hope to see you in September.
