Hi guys, Well someone stole my back pack out of my truck, not in Mexico but in La Mesa on my way home. Had to purchase a new GPS, camera, maps, etc.
Wish I could retrieve the 6 months of way points I have created which included all of my hidden supplies, just have to rely on memory for that. Anyway
I remember someone talking about the best software or chip for this unit for Baja. Could you possibly tell me where I can get it? Either a chip or a
download?
Got my Burro in Tacate. What a trip!!! Everything is on schedule for the Oct 1st walk. Will be leaving from Rancho Ojai outside of Tacate. Thats where
my Burro is located. A really beautiful place and very reasonable for motorhomes long term or short term.
Thanks in advance for your help.Taco de Baja - 4-19-2010 at 07:24 AM
These are only the street maps. If you want topo - with some back country roads and trails, you will have to go with Bicimapas. These topo maps for
the Garmin units were originally made by LB Maps, but sold to Bicimapas, and updated for 2010.
Both Navigator and Expeditioner should work with any Garmin unit that accepts map downloads.
Do either of these work on a magellan GPS,k

I believe they only work with Garmin GPS units.
You also have to have the Garmin Map Source program, if you go the download route to transfer the maps and waypoints between your PC and the GPS. If
you get it on an SD card, I don’t think you need the Map Source program as the maps are already on the card.
Larry Buck, of LBMaps is a great guy, and responds to emails quickly. I recently updated my Map Source program to the latest and greatest version,
and there was an issue with the program accessing the location of the Expeditioner maps. Despite Larry no longer offering the program, and me having
purchased it years ago, he was able to walk me through the process of tweaking the program code so Map Source knew the location of the files. And on
a weekend too!
