Hi there, I'm a Baja veteran but have rarely ventured south of Loreto. I have friends flying into La Paz at the beginning of May. Two couples with two
small children. They have rented a sailboat but they need a reasonably priced place to stay that is, preferably, within walking distance to a good
grocery store/ place to eat.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Cheers,

We stayed at the Hotel Perla. It's right on the malecon, secure parking, pool, restaurant and kids playground area. We liked it and it wasn't very
expensive. The rooms are simple, but it was very nice. And you can't beat right on the water

We stayed here in February, completely enclosed and would definitely stay here again. http://casabuena.net/Bajahowodd - 4-20-2010 at 12:10 PM
I have always enjoyed people-watching while sitting in the La Perla restaurant. That said, since your friends are traveling with kids, I recommend
that they look into this place. The studios and suites have kitchens and they have a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. A little bit toward
the end of the malecon, but we enjoyed staying there.
Thanks everyone! I have passed along your suggestions. If anyone has anything new to add, please feel free!
Also, will they be able to buy any lobster there? (From a market or other vendor).comitan - 4-20-2010 at 03:25 PM
From the Malecon, up Rosales 4-5 blocks on the left.rhintransit - 4-20-2010 at 03:29 PM

Hola, i used to recommend the former hotel gardenias but someone on the site said they had people breaking into the rooms with keys into the now newly
renamed and somewhat remodeled hotel bogumbilias so i no longer want to take any responsibilities ! they are reasonably priced so if you always want
to take any valuables with you when you leave, it is a fairly nice hotel.

Hi Clubfred!

Having young children with them they might want to look into a condo so they are not as confined as in a hotel room. Attached is a sample of one of
my neighbor's rentals. It is a small complex of only about 35 units. One mile from the malecon and 5 or 6 blocks to the CCC supermarket. The prices
are comparable to hotel rates. I don't gain anything by this recommendation. Just trying to be helpful by providing alternatives. Lots of other
options too at vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner).LaRibereņa - 4-24-2010 at 04:17 PM

Hi David! Yeah, haven't been on the boards for awhile, since Fred and I have been living in the Cook Islands, (long drive to Baja from there, lol).
Hopefully we'll be back to Mulege and Posada this winter! Maybe see you there?

Many thanks again all!
I have passed all your suggestions along. They leave May 4th, so pretty soon.

Cook Islands! Cool stuff... Nomad now has a Non-Baja Trip Reports forum... I would love to see photos of the places you two have been to!
