Rain???

Russ - 4-20-2010 at 05:30 PM

I'll be heading home on Thursday and I hear rumors of rain below the boarder. It's raining, more like drizzle, in Laguna now. Any reports would appreciated. Thanks:?:

There calling for rain late tonight, tomorrow and Thursday AM here, Russ. Doesn't look like a lot, but the roads will probably be wet.

BajaWarrior - 4-20-2010 at 05:59 PM

Just started sprinkling in San Diego, windy too.

David K - 4-20-2010 at 07:09 PM

7pm in Oceanside it started... they say it will go on all day Wednesday and taper off Thursday... Friday and Saturday should be nice!

DENNIS - 4-20-2010 at 07:21 PM

This storm is heading south. I'm looking north over the water and it's really dark up that way.
We gonna get it, looks like.

Russ - 4-20-2010 at 07:24 PM

Thanks for your reports I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how things develop tomorrow.

Hook - 4-20-2010 at 08:13 PM

30% chance of rain on Friday on the Sonoran coast just across the pond from Chivato, Russ. Your chance is probably 10-20% higher over there. Appears to be from this Pacific low that is affecting SoCal right now as the temps will drop to the 70s. Not a southern event.

DianaT - 4-21-2010 at 10:12 AM

Looks like more rain is going to hit here in IB----lots of clouds and predicted 70% chance for today and tomorrow.

We would like to know if anyone knows how far south the rain is predicted? One place I checked said it was 30% chance for Ensenada, but further south?

Just wondering if it will affect the river crossings.

DENNIS - 4-21-2010 at 10:26 AM

It's blue skys and beautiful right now, but thirty minutes ago, a ten minute downpour came through.

Russ - 4-21-2010 at 11:22 AM

I started packing this morning so I'm hoping there won't be any real rain storms and that it's dry roads around San Quitin. I hate it when the wipers won't keep up with the mud. As with Diane any updates will be appreciated.

DENNIS - 4-21-2010 at 11:46 AM

It's not that bad, Russ. Intermitant showers, nothing serious. The roads will dry fast and I don't think there will be flooding anywhere.

BajaGringo - 4-21-2010 at 12:05 PM

The latest forecast for the San Quintin area is a thunderstorm this afternoon with more rain late tonight intermittently through tomorrow morning. The also forecast some more showers tomorrow evening.

I was going to head north next week, but in light of these storms and also the weather in No. California, I am in no hurry. They are getting snow down to the 3,000' level (at my house), big wind gusts and the temperature highs dropped down into the 30s F. :O

Oh damn...I'll just have to stay here and fish.:bounce:

Gaucho - 4-21-2010 at 04:26 PM

Hi Russ,

I'm in LB right now and there is no rain just some dark clouds. We're supposed to get a little bit tonight and maybe a bit tomorrow but nothing serious. It should be a very nice week-end for you.

Only need to put in the ice chest , travel food and dog & I'm outta here around 4. Crossing just after 5. I'm not really excited about the forecast but I'm ready for some warm weather.

BajaGringo - 4-21-2010 at 07:13 PM

We got some rain earlier this afternoon and it is raining right now...

Pescador - 4-21-2010 at 07:35 PM

Russ, I was just ahead of you, crossed the border yesterday, spent the night in San Vicente, and came in to San Bruno this morning. Dry as a bone the whole way, lots of wind and blowing sand at Guerrero Negro, but nothing else.

Russ - 4-21-2010 at 08:09 PM

Thanks all! Putting the 'puter in the bag now. Hasta Punta Chivato:biggrin:

24baja - 4-22-2010 at 12:11 AM

Its been raining for 2 days in Oregon......ah silly me you are going the other way.....31 days until our trip to BOLA.....rain or no we're heading home!!!

Bob H - 4-22-2010 at 07:23 AM

Lots of heavy showers passing through all night last night and this morning here in San Diego. It's headed even further South. The radar I saw shows it going all the way down near Ensenada, maybe even further, as it is predicted to head SE across Northern Baja.

Late last night on the patio, we were makiing bets on rain before morning. It looked like a sure thing because of all the large dark cumulus drifting over the mountains from the Far Side...the Pacific.

Was mildly exciting laying out there.

But..come the dawn, it's back to the same ol' same ol'..just more sunshine and balmy weather...sigh.

wilderone - 4-22-2010 at 07:45 AM

The rain we've had in San Diego hasn't been enough to fill my water barrels. A good rain storm would fill them in 1/2 hr. However, this is a COLD storm. Hail, and in higher elevations like Tecate and Catavina, could be freezing overnight. San Diego County got 8 in. of snow at 4200 ft. yesterday. Flooding probably not a factor vis a vis travel, but rock slides into the highway, si.

Hola Don Jorge...hey, how you doing, amigo? Good to hear you are heading our way.

Here's some news.

"Guess Who is Coming to Dinner"?

We pick up the Purple Sage at Loreto airport today. I couldn't avoid having him here for the next week.

George...plan to stay with us overnight. Co-pilot, Randy, and I are entered in the Pinto Derby Saturday at Ana's, Santispac. We fish at dawn!

Events at Santispac will be from 1-7 PM most likely. Awards, fish dinner, dancing, putting the Purple Sage to bed, etc..

Unfortunately, the Sage will be bringing his own hideous coffee..Peats. As for beer, he still swills anything put in front of him.

Think RAIN for all the farms! California and Up North.

BajaGringo - 4-22-2010 at 10:34 AM

Rained all night here out on the beach with a few more showers this morning. Going to be a great year for the local farmers this year...

:D

astrobaja - 4-22-2010 at 05:59 PM

I tried the living life above the snow line for a couple of years. Major force in the reason I am now living down on the beach...

:lol::lol::lol:

I am sorry about the apples though...

It's nice to be home! Still a little buzzed from 14 hours behind the wheel. Kinda like getting off the boat after a full days fishing. Rained from Laguna to Encinidas then showers to Ensanada (sp).7am Ensanada traffic and heavy showers very slow! Then the nightmare! San Quitin area really sucks in the rain! My car is a dirt clog now. After SQ traffic was light and showers lightened up as I drove South.

zforbes - 4-23-2010 at 07:39 AM

Last night we had a beautiful soft rain in Asuncion, -- you know, the kind where you hear it on the roof but it's not flooding you out, so you snuggle under the blankets and go back to sleep. Today the sun shines brightly, and the ground is still wet. :bounce:

We had the exact same kind of night out here on the beach in San Quintin. Woke up to a beautiful sunny morning...
