Spring Break pt. 1 of 3

stimbo - 4-26-2010 at 08:50 AM

Here are a group of images from April. This was our annual spring trip into Baja to escape the snow and cold of the Sierra of California. We crossed into Mexico just in time. A day into Baja it snowed 2 feet on Mammoth Mountain which closed the schools and the highway.

This is a photo essay of the Baja landscape, the culture, sights and smells. I divided up the posts into 3 submissions. There are images from the border at TJ to Cabo Pulmo and in between. Other than a flat tire, our three weeks were trouble free. There's plenty of fuel, ice, water, good fishing, great restaurants, friends, wonderful and accommodating people. Enjoy!

Sea of Cortez, Sunrise

Virgin of Guadalupe, Toyota Tundra

Virgin of Guadalupe, San Bartolo

Traveling Salesman, Guerrero Negro

Stimbo,

Love your shots as always! Especially like the light you captured in the shot of the Yellow Tent (#7).

Sorry.... my trip description was vague at best. In a nutshell though, this was a 3 week excursion down to the tip and back, concentrating on the East Cape. There are photos of La Ventana, Cabo Pulmo, Isla Espiritu Santo, Cataviņa, etc...

I've modified the initial trip report plus have added some captions.... I still prefer to be a little hazy with my descriptions, only because I believe in serendipity. ;)

Gee, it seems as though you just left, and now you're back already. These vacations go by too fast. When you consider the full week used up driving from mammoth to east cape and back - it really doesn't leave you much time.

It's fun to look at them without words because I try to figure out where each picture was taken ... and I think I know a number of them.

Just got all the gear cleaned up, finally. It takes longer to unpack than to leave on a trip. I'd love to go again when the fishing heats up down there. Especially now that it is trying to snow outside..... aarrrrggggghhhhhhh!
