Guerrero Negro race accident last sunday

This happened at a short motocross type race they had last sunday. Don't know how the guy is

happens more often than not. I always park away from the action and warn Kevin to be very careful going through crowds. Don't know if he listens though since they are focused on the moment and are just coming off some very fast speeds

Holy Crap man. What is more dangerous, being hit by a race car, or being handled by the unqualified ambulance attendents?

I'm no EMT, but I think the idea of a back board is to stabilize the victim to prevent further injury when moving him.

Maybe they already knew the guy was playing Baja Spectator Roulette with a few too many rounds in the cylinder so what the hey.

There is very little crowd control at these events and out in the desert there is none.

OK, I have played it several times and I am still not sure if the flying body was a spectator or the driver of the bug??

So people need to be smart enough to not watch from the OUTSIDE of a turn. Still, I feel for the guy, and the driver. That has to be hard on a racer.

It was right after the jump at the finish. The car veered off course slightly..... spectators were lining the course on each side

every time i see one of the baja race videos i wonder why people are so stupid to stand near those race courses. i can't believe that race promoters aren't liable for races they hold where they let spectators into unsafe areas.

Its a different culture...
They generally have some form of control at the start/finish line but its a desert race of over 250 kilometers so there is no way to control peoples behavior.
Its spectator beware. You are required to act responsibly or suffer the consequences

The lawyers haven't ruined baja as they have the states...and i for one hope it stays that way.

Survival of the fittest, as well as Survival of the smartest, seems to be the case here. Which this guy obviously wasn't.....either way I hope the guy recovers and learned to stay away from 2000lb objects traveling at a high rates of speed.

I thought the guys in the red at the jump were the ones who were going to eat it when the video started.

In baja it's live for the moment for many. gringos and nationals

I believe there is an effect on behavior in a culture where so many people believe they are going to a better place when they die. We see a similar thing in this country when the "true believers" conduct themselves (and cast their votes) based on their zeal to create their armageddon and subsequent transportation into the sky.

Just a theory, but there is a lot of evidence. I too hope the guy is up a walking around.

I have seen the same type of suicididal behavior on Youtube..in saudi arabia where the people gather around and watch cars "drift" ie....pull the e-break at high rates of speed...I have seen lots of people tossed considerable distance in these videos....different culture...it's live for the moment.

if you don't know to stay off the "race track".... well, not too sure there is much one can do.... a leash?

When young we used to get seats in turn 1 for races of sprint cars at the Ascot Stadium ... but, there was still a retaining wall and fence...

you knew where you were, and the dirt clouds were part of the fun... and seeing them coming at you... but, knew enough to get cover for the ones that couldn't make it.. or got "nudged" a bit going into the turn or in the turn..... can still remember the "smell" and all the dirt... and flying car parts... :):)
