I was curious if anybody knew the particulars on the departure of Solomon's Landing Restaurant from the Palmas de Cortez Resort??
I had heard talk that the Van Wormer's kicked them out for no reason and I would be very disappointed if this were true. The Gringo Gazette had a
paragraph written about this topic and a "I am so sorry they left" note from the Van Wormer's appeared on the Baja Pony Express.

hola, the local gossip here is the van wormer's restaurant was not faring very well and solomon's business was bristling and the van wormer's booted
them out. once again, THIS IS JUST THE LOCAL GOSSIP !
i have heard the same GOSSIP when the italian restaurant at palmas was asked to leave and moved to the otra vez site.
i can't understand if there was a lease, how can they just boot someone out and not end up with a lawsuit ?
i would think any business minded proprieter would have the sense to have a lease before embarking on any venture that requires brick and mortar ?

Don't know why Solomons left. There are always rumor's flying around here in L.B. and two sides to every story. Maybe we will hear from Brian on this
at some point. I have to say I had a great dinner there a few days ago with great service at what I thought was a reasonable price. Until I hear of
any reason not to I will still patronize the restaurant.

Didn't the palmas folks do that to the Italian restaurant, the Pizza joint up the road, and now to Solomon's. It seems that Chucky and the Van Wormers
are less than honest when dealing with others. After seeing how good a business they partner up with , they learn the ins and out of your business
then boot you out hoping to take your idea and employess and make it there own.

Slimshady,
Do you have any proof that this has happened in either case? I know there is a call for a boycott of the resturant on another site but have yet to
hear any facts from anyone directly involved. Los Barriles is a churning rumor mill and my experience has been most are overly exaggerated. Slander in
a big deal in Mexico so most foreiners are careful of what they say regarding the nationals. If you or any one has more info than I you can pass it via u2u instead of a public forum.

Whoooooaaaaa !!! public forum is what these issues are all about, not private u2u's ! perhaps with enough of this type of gossip, honesty will
prevail. let the van wormers rebutt what they like and let us challenge them at every point. i have heard so many times about the dirty dealing that
they do only in their behalf. only in their behalf !!!

Slander is when you defame someone. It's their business practice which is called into question. So slow your roll and go eat at the "...... dorado"
or whatever that restaurant is called. They can do what they want it and it does not mean I have to eat there let alone do business with them. They
don't run the town anymore. Those days are over.

I have never eaten at solomon's before and I have never stayed at Palmas de Cortez so I have no knowledge of this deal but on behalf of the rentor
that got tossed out despite their lease...
its happened to me before and well I could have battled it in court but it just wasn't worth it. only the lawyers would have benefited and I still
would have lost. small town no connections to protect me vs. well connected ex-diputado that would have won any battle that would have come their way
$$. so i moved out and got on with my life. I see that this restaurant did the same thing. our lease was solid and was supposed to be until nov
2011. with the way tourism has died here I only open my shop seasonally now so I guess it worked out for the best.
