That's why almost all the US East coast traffic is headed to Cancun! Shorter travel time and "it's Mexico"!

BajaBlanca - 5-9-2010 at 07:12 PM

where is La Bocana ...

We are located 10 miles north of Punta Abreojos on the Pacific .... Hope that makes it clear, but just in case:

We are the first turnoff after Vizcaino (BCS), heading south on hiway 1. We are before San Ignacio.

Punta Abreojos has a small runway ..... I will u2u as well

LOVE the idea of her coming so close to us by plane :light:

dtbushpilot - 5-9-2010 at 08:22 PM

Just go get her Mike, make it an adventure that she will never forget....

The runway at Abreojos is big enough for a DC3....how cool would that be to drop her off at her destination? Getting home? well maybe someone in the BBP will be headed North about the time she needs to go home. Wouldn't that be a hoot.....dt

Maybe Captain Mike :saint::saint::saint: wd like to stay for 3 weeks and take the girls home !!!!! Then we could offer him a sweet deal on our B & B rate :light::light::light:

Oh the possibilities and thanks all for yr input

Punta Abreojos

How come I can't find Punta Abreojos in BBP's red book?

BajaBlanca - 5-10-2010 at 01:45 PM

it might be called LA BALIZA ??? but really should be under Abreojos

.......... can you find Campo Rene - another airstrip about 10 miles east of Abreojos ????

O.G. - 5-10-2010 at 01:55 PM

Negative. No La Baliza nor Campo Rene on either the Mexican WAC charts or the BBF red book. I'm not going there, but the previous posters talk about Abreojos as if it were common knowledge. The Mexican WAC aeronautical chart only shows Punta Abreojos as a landmark with a "light" as for sailors to use.

capt. mike - 5-10-2010 at 03:26 PM

it's hit or miss on the WAC CH-22 - i have 30 years of them and they "update" those only every 24 months -you never know what they are going to "change" and they always have errors.

Red book has it named diff.
the old Senterfitt's guides called it out correctly. i have several of those and liked them much better than the "red book"
Hanselman's has it too.
keep looking!

BajaBlanca - 5-10-2010 at 04:18 PM

Planes fly in all the time - not sure why it is not listed but for sure there is an error as Capt Mke says - the airstrip is huge and right now they urgently need a new wind sock - major winds have torn theirs to shreds and there is a bit of thread just barely hanging on as of yesterday !! Next visitor to P Abreojos should bring one ....

tiotomasbcs - 5-10-2010 at 06:22 PM

I looked at our La Bocana pics but they don't show much of the houses. Just the old airport. Haven't been down that way in awhile but I'll remember.

Mike, Jamie will be at Pta Chivato this weekend but I gotta work.
