Tijuana Border - FMM @ 5am?

xbcsutter - 5-20-2010 at 09:16 PM

Getting conflicting info. Anyone cross recently at TJ and get 180 day Tourist Card/FMM? Can I cross at 5 am, get the FMM and pay then or pay at a bank later?
Trying to get the FMM's prior from Vag's but they don't have them yet.
Thanks!

Tijuana has 24/7 INM office (Tourist Cards) and 24/7 bank teller just for the payment for the tourist cards... If they are not in their offices facing the secondary parking, then walk through the hallway to their offices facing the pedestrian entrance.

Thanks DK. Crossing at TJ with a buddy that always goes through at Tecate. Didn't want to rely on my memory of TJ from years ago. Headed to Los Barilles June 10.

Before you thank me too much, remember it IS Mexico... and things do CHANGE without notice! ;)

My wife will need an FMM when we drive to La Paz from San Diego within the next 2 weeks. I am not sure where you guys are talking about with regard to the exact location of the 24/7 immigration office.

When you walk across the border there in San Ysidro to enter TJ, thru the turnstiles, there is a bunch of small offices/walk up windows on the left and there is also a large windowed office on the right (always 'looks' closed to me). Where exactly is this 24/7 immigration office where one can obtain an FMM? Also, where, from said immigration office, is the closest bank to pay for the FMM?

Ofcourse, we will be driving across the border instead of walking across this time, maybe I need to go to a different location for the FMM(?) In the past she got her FMT at the TJ airport before bording a Volaris flight to La Paz.

Also, what if you have an FMT and the 180 day period expires while you are in Cabo or La Paz. Then what do you do? Can you get a new FMM in Cabo or La Paz in this circumstance?

Hope this isn't considered hijacking this thread. If it is, I will remove this post.

when going south thru ped xing, all are on your left. you may need to go thru the building, taking you to windows/offices that front onto the road xing

Thanks, Goat.

goat... maybe the other left...

walking south the IMN office is on the righ
just beyond the trunstiles

if you are in secondary looking south it's still on the right

What is the parking like near the walk in area. We need to stop for permits, with a trailer behind the truck this time. I know I don't want to have to back out from the inspection area.

Bob and Susan - 5-21-2010 at 04:54 PM

my 12 foot utility trailer fits in a parking stall with the truck

i just park in the first spaces to stay out of the way

a travel trailer could park like the buses
but
they could make you move if busy

then you're scr*wed...

msteve1014 - 5-21-2010 at 04:59 PM

I have a 20 foot boat on my trailer, behind a long bed, crew cab F-350. It only goes forward, and strait.:O
The bus area has been blocked off, just for them, the last few times we came through. So I can't hope for that.

xbcsutter - 5-21-2010 at 05:59 PM

What about at 5am, room to park a 40ft 5th wheel and crew cab for 5 minutes?
Years ago it was fine... Anybody seen the area at that hour lately? Would rather not head down via Tecate.
Thanks.
