tecate border

crossed north at tecate the other day. cleared the booth and just as i was going to exit they directed me straight ahead a couple hundred feet and told me to stop and get out of the car and wait about 50 feet away. then i notice that everyone else that cleared the booths lined up behind me and were directed to get out of ther cars. then this wierd looking truck pulled up and drove slowly along one side of the cars (found out later it was x-ray) while another agent walked down the other side with a drug sniffing dog. made a half hour crossing into an hour.

Our first encounter with that machine was recently at Algodones---we were cleared to go, and then with others lucky people, we were pulled over. While the process happened, those behind us were able to proceed.

Took us a while because the x-ray did not like something in the truck behind us---so they took a closer look.

But, even with that, we still think it beats the crossing at San Ysidro -- at least most of the time.

I was wondering what the truck was. I had seen in lurking about for the last couple of weeks on my weekly trip to San Diego.

They got us a few weeks ago at Mexicali East with that white crew cab Xray truck. Lined all the cars up and it slowly drove drove past them.

Last week just before crossing south we saw the truck at the closest gas station near the border with 4 guys in it all holding 44 oz. soda cups. I guess that truck is good for something for soda runs too...

And all the while, folks are complaining about Obama's security posture. I've said it before, but even with sophisticated technology and increased staffing, if anyone really thinks that we can be totally protected from people who are on a mission from their God, hmmm. And that's not to mention desperate people from all sorts of places, and for any number of reasons. When the American people finally realize that at the end of the day, they cannot be absolutely be insulted from assaults from people, who for varying reasons, wish to wreak havoc on us, then just perhaps we will be able to allocate resources properly.

Anyone notice the garbage truck parked in the impound yard at Otay? I think the used this x-ray rig to find some contraband rather than dig through the load of garbage:biggrin:

That's normal at Tecate....once they fill up the row everyone else goes through then they start again with a new batch at people...Tecate is actually the most pleasant place to cross because the officers never give you a bunch of B.S.
