We are gonna try to make it there early on.... starts at noon.
Let's pick a time for Nomads to meet up in front of the Tecate booth! They will be pouring big samples for sure.
Say... around 1:30 to 2PM?
Bob Hbajadock - 5-27-2010 at 09:31 AM
Looking forward to meeting more Nomads Saturday.Udo - 5-28-2010 at 07:23 PM
Just look for the BRIGHT YELLOW SAN FELIPE/CORONA jacket.
I'll fetch you a beer or a shooter.
My wife Jana should be wearing a bright blue poncho/shawl. We usually hang out where there is food or the loudest party!dtbushpilot - 5-28-2010 at 08:39 PM
Me and jtcopilot plan to attend. I think we'll try to show up early this time...dtKASHEYDOG - 5-29-2010 at 09:48 AM
Looking foward to meeting some of you guys. I'll be wearing a black "Giggling Marlin" t-shirt, since I can't seem to find a Baja Nomad shirt anywhere.
See ya there : )BajaNomad - 5-29-2010 at 10:08 PM
I DID have on a Baja Nomad t-shirt today, and was able to say hello to many other Nomads (and Baja friends) including: Udo (with wife and friend), Roy
(thesquarecircle), fdt, elgatoloco & Barb, Hugh & Carol Kramer, Juan from Ensenada Tourism, Graham & Bonni Mackintosh, Wiley (Comitan), as
well as Doc Dougherty, who was there to help get more visibility for the Golf4Niņos Charity & Fiesta event (coming up on June 12th in Ensenada).
Beautiful day today out at Embarcadero Park North, and enjoyed the event festivities, along with getting a chance to say hello and talk to so many
Baja folks today.
I noticed Mr. Overcast was also out there today, wearing a Cabo 500 t-shirt.
Hopefully Udo can post some of his pics sometime soon.

We were out there early and had a great time and food. We met our new neighbors Mr. and Mrs. DTBushpilot and saw a number of familiar faces.Cyanide41 - 5-30-2010 at 07:33 AM
Damn! Day late and a dollar short. I wish I had seen this sooner. Maybe next year.bajadock - 5-30-2010 at 08:37 AM
Missed meeting many, but found some new friends. El Gato Loco, Wiley, Hugh and Carol Kramer, Udo,... Perfect weather, setting and lots of food and
beverage opportunities.
First guy I saw in a Baja Nomad t-shirt:
Doc: "Which Nomad are you?".
Doug's wife: "That's THE Nomad."
First time I've met Doug and enjoyed the conversation.comitan - 5-30-2010 at 11:33 AM
Sure was worth the drive from La Paz, Nice meeting Nomads especially Doug & Family and many more. The food was really great and couldn't beat the
weather.BajaNomad - 5-30-2010 at 02:27 PM

The Expo this year was markedly similar to last year's with the exception that there were several more restaurants offering their cuisine as samples.
One way that the food was made to last this time is that when one registered, one was issued a wrist band with 5 tear-off tags. The registration was
again free. But if you wanted to, you could purchase an unlimited band whereby all the food samples were included in the price.
There were several extra restaurants offering samples, but by far the best was the "CALIENTE" restaurant in Tijuana. They are located next to the dog
racing track. They were the only ones who really had their act together by serving properly prepared food as well as serving it in a timely manner.
We met Graham and wife Bonni there at about 11:20.
This photo was taken by Graham, and it shows my wife Jana as well as Necia Bower, wife of a Nomad.
The rest of the restaurant fares wre so-so with the exception of a superb carne asada burrito. YUM! It appeared that the underlying theme of the
restaurant wares were some form of sushi/sashimi. However, the chefs were more concerned with how the food looked on the plate as opposed to how the
food tasted...i.e. bland raw seafood. Yes, a couple were fairly good, but the rest were tough to finish. One restaurant even specialized in "UNUSUAL"
food, (grasshoppers, worms, termites, bone marrow, etc) Most everyone I saw dumped what they were served. I tasted the bone marrow, and tasted like a
salty piece of lard!
The most fun was acually speaking in person with several Nomads. The best surprise was seeing Fernando again (FDT). He is now divorced and is wearing
a size 34 pair of pants! Incredible.
Most of the major dinitaries did not show for this year, except for the Governor (Milan). When we met again this year, I gave him a t-shirt from a
custom fish rod builder in Texas. He remarked that he remembered me as the gringo who spoke perfect spanis. I did not have the camera ready and no one
was available to take the photo. The gift may not have been totally appropriate for such a dinitary, but it was fun!
I remember meeting with Doc Dougherty (bajadoc), Doug, (the supreme Nomad), wife and son Riley, Matt and Barbaram Bob H, Roy, Hugh and Carol Kramer, I
saw Kasheydog, and spent some time as well with DTbushpilot, his wife and cacahuete, who caused me to get a mental lapse when I was trying to
introduce to him my good friend Necia Bower. Somehow I missed several other Nomads.
I future years, I think we should have a Nomad appointment at the beer booth...this year it was the TJ beer booth.
BOB H Udo elgatoloco (Matt)
Another great set of exhibitors were the wineries from the wine country who were trying to promote the Fiestas De La Vendimia in Agust.
You have to try the wines, many would earn a Parker 95-97 rating.
(to satisfy Cpn Mike...at least in the nineties)
Below is a distillery who offered samples of wines combined with tequila and some fruit (like tamarindo, pineapple, etc.)
Wares from Vizcaino
The chefs from Caliente...the best food there!
A wine server giving samples
Nice buns on the press chick!
A Lucha Libre exhibition after they fell out of the rink

Great shots, Udo. Thanks for the report.
Just a thought....next year, hand your camera to Doug. I've seen him in action and he records every movement of every person within a quarter mile of
the event. DianaT - 5-30-2010 at 08:28 PM
Really miss FDT around here---hope he starts posting again!BajaNomad - 5-30-2010 at 08:49 PM

There is certainly truth in that statement - and I do like taking photos much more than being IN them.irenemm - 5-30-2010 at 09:00 PM
thanks for the update.
was there lots of gringos and are they going to come down? It is what the fair is all about right?
It looked like fun and I am glad the weather turned out to be a nice day.
For those of us who don't know many nomads it would be nice to have the names under the photos.
Again thanks for the information and pictures. Looks like all had a good time.
Maybe will try and go next year.Graham - 5-30-2010 at 09:06 PM
Great photos and report Udo. A fun and worthwhile day out. We went for the $10 gold wristband and indulged ourselves all the food and drink we wanted.
Kept going back to our favorite places.
Enjoyed meeting everyone. Hard to add any pics to your fine array... but what an interesting and beautiful location there at Embarcadero Park North.
Definitely put me in the mood for Memorial Weekend...Graham - 5-30-2010 at 09:08 PM

"You have to try the wines, may would earn a Parker 95-97 rating."
........i don't think so, i mean not in that league - to be honest, but many are good! i'd say a few in the 89-90 maybe if you're using Parker's scale
which very tough.
hahahahaha. time for some padre kino.Udo - 5-31-2010 at 09:17 AM
Here are some additional photos to supplement the beautiful ones from Graham...
The greyhounds from the Caliente race track (Great restaurant!)
The rock-balancer at the embarcadero.
This place is starting to resemble Venice beach with the performers.
The Bohemia beer server.
TJ beer was better (IMHO)
The elegant Caliente restaurant booth. They really went all out for this event!
When registering for the event, one was issued a wrist band with 5 numbers.
There were several ships navigating the waters behind the event. Here is one for you Green Bay fans.

Udo, thanks for the great report and photos. Another fantastic event for sure.
Sorry I missed seeing many other Nomads that were there.

I took a nice one of you in front of the TJ cervesa tent. You were right there until I told you about the tequila and wine section! Haha
Matt and his wife with Ferna alongside Audrey with crazy hat!

Great job on the photos and reporting.DianaT - 5-31-2010 at 10:36 AM
LOVE Audrey's hat. That is a GREAT one.
But it seems it might cause some itching????
Looks like it was a fun event.Udo - 6-1-2010 at 08:07 AM
The hat is a classic.
My wife wishes she had one also, although it reminds me of either a moving palapa, or an English sheep dog's point of view.bajadock - 6-1-2010 at 10:00 AM
Thanks for the photos, all. During my 10am to 3:30pm Golf4Ninos promo gig at Baja by the Sea, did not specifically push any Nomads for donations.
Preferred to keep it friendly during a first meeting.
So, shameless plug in this thread... http://Golf4Ninos.wordpress.com DONATE button works for credit card or paypal. Your $10-$20 contribution makes a big difference for poor kids at
Agua Viva Shelter. Anonymous donation requests honored.
Or just come down and join us Saturday June 12. Fiesta(food, music, fun) tix are a whopping $10 if purchased by midnight June 4. It's a good party,
240+ people in 2009.
THANKS, Doc

Worthy cause, Doc. I think the Supreme Nomad will allow a slight thread hijack.
When I saw you earlier in the day, Doc, I could tell that you were a little stressed with what you had to do at the Ensenada booth.
I hope Nomads chip in at least a $20.00 U.S. It is really easy...drop by the above web site and click on donate via paypal.David K - 6-1-2010 at 06:31 PM
Thanks for the photos and report... Good to see you guys having fun, in the name of 'BAJA'! We would have been there on any other weekend... but we
were have a different kind of Baja fun, 300 miles south!
