Hey there-
I would be very interested in old photos of the Loreto-Mulege-Valle area. Areal or ground level photos would be great especially those of places that
are now developed.
I am putting together a poster to represent our programs in the Loreto area and it will be displayed at the Hotel Ariaza in La Paz on June 10th in the
afternoon. I don't know if its open to the public but Edna and I will be there to explain our programs and answer questions. This is part of the
Waterkeeper Alliance annual conference that is taking place in La Paz, BCS from June 9-12. This is first time its been held outside of the US or
Canada, and its an honor for Mexico to be hosting this.
if you'd rather e-mail me then shoot me a U2U but it would make a fun thread if some were posted here, hopefully I can find some of my pre-dig camera
snapshots to scan.
thanks mucho

A couple of shots from a plane from 1992. The center of town and the south end of Loreto Shores. I know I have Nopolo before the condos, Loreto Bay
and El Camino Real hotel but can't find it.

Love the old malecon shot. It may be looking like that again pretty soon when they repave that one. There are some good shots on the Hidden Port
Yacht Club website of Puerto Escondido from 1978-2009

Pam and Tijereta,
I love these old pictures. Sadly, we didn't come soon enough to have any oldies to share ;-)
I couldn't find the old shots on the HPY website.

Was going to paddle to the coast shore in this (from Isla Coronado), but wind came up - caught a ride with a fisherman:

Ken, it's too bad Stereolandia didn't hang in there-- I'm sure they'd do a BOOMING business now
I sure miss Playa Blanca restaurant. I wonder if the shop downstairs belonged to Maria back then. She is one of the first people I met in Loreto
when we came for the first time in 2001. She's around the corner with her shop at her house now. She always had such good stories, and the time to
tell them.
Thank you for these pictures, and thank you wilderone too!

Playa Blanca around 1994.. The ladder is still there today, and Brenda who took over the bar this year is working on
getting the upper level working..including the ladder

PE around 1976 was a great beach to camp on..Bay only had a few boats on anchor..including our yellow Sea Ray

1996 > PE looked peaceful from this location, looking south at the back bay area..

Totally cool photos, especially the PLaya Blanca ones. Francisco will love them. that place will never be the same its history but cool, here's a
couple more first from 1992 of Plaza Juarez and the second from 1985 (not mine) of the Malecon from just south of Hidalgo to just north of Juarez

flyfishinPam - 5-31-2010 at 06:22 PM
I'd like a shot like that second one from 1985 but from 2010. Any of you pilotos have one?

Loreto airport around 1979. (Bignose joke on an old buddy whose nose we used for shade..)
Pam, I have many old aerial photos of Loreto and area from the 60's thru the 80's..unfortunately they are a few thousand miles away. Along with some
town and water scenes. I will post them here in about a month if you still need them.
Good luck with the project.
Found a couple more in my photo morgue

Anybody remember Denise?

El Presidente Hotel in January 1981:

The picture above was taken just a few weeks after the hotel opened. I happened to notice this humorous excerpt from my log:
"Left Pescadero Sunday morning for Loreto. Runway 34-16 in Loreto is in excellent condition. Stayed at new Hotel El Presidente about 10 minutes
south of airport. Place is LUXURIOUS. Friendly crew and good food. Natural black-sand beach with imported white sand. This place gave us cultural
shock, it is lavish. Doesn't seem to belong in Baja. That night it rained. Everything flooded, no drains, lost power, no water. Now it seemed to
belong more."
