Great views of the coast, including the Wall, from the deck of my sea kayak on a 30 day trip in 2008. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQSFy8fjbE0 , The music was played by me.

Many Thanks for giving us an opportunity to see what Baja looks like from that angle. We would never get to see it otherwise. You are very brave and
adventurous guys. Thanks Again !
wilderone - 6-2-2010 at 07:39 AM
Really enjoyed your video - the glassy condtions were nice, huh? Also watched the Kanab Creek wilderness video - great also - especially the
Whispering Falls area. Life is good!
JoelBeckwith - 6-2-2010 at 08:10 AM
Thanks! The Kanab Creek/ Grand Canyon Video is here if anyone is interested, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ouib_V4MdY . Baja reminds me of the Grand Canyon meets the Caribean. Both are such special places!

Thanks very much for posting.
A few logistic questions.
What electronic gear did you take, and how did you keep them charged?
How much fresh water did you carry and how did you replenish?
Great job with the photos, filming and the music!!!!!!!
JoelBeckwith - 6-3-2010 at 11:15 AM
My camera is a canon point and shoot powershot that takes AA batteries. I did have an old etrex gps that I use just to keep track of speed and mileage
but used a Baja atlas to navigate,(the only accurate charts/maps available). It also uses AA batteries. it showed 499 statute miles. Rick came up with
400 miles using the same type but he did it in nautical miles and crossed the mouths of many bays that I followed the shorelines of. I carried 12
spare AAs and it was enough. We each had the capacity to carry 10 gallons of water. I used 4 10-liter dromedary bags made by MSR. I have used these
for many years in the Everglades on long trips and they are almost indestructable .

We bought water at Puertocitos, Gonzaga Bay, LA Bay, San Franciquito and Santa Rosalia.

THANKS FOR SHARING...
the amazing slide show of your trip!! What an amazing trip it must have been.
Clearly there is really incredible scenery to be seen from the seat of a kayak. I've fished off the coast on the SOC and seen many great views, but
the up close is really something to see!

I did not see any photos that included some campfires. I also see you cooked on portable stoves for most of your hot food.
However, knowing that part of Baja, I know you encountered some generous fishermen in fish camps that served you some hot meals also.
How were the arrangements for a chase vehicle to pick you up @ Mulege?
JoelBeckwith - 6-4-2010 at 06:14 AM
I'm a vegetarian and started out with 36 day worth of food. We only had a few fires. Hank and Rick got fish from several fisherman. We got a ride from
San Diego at the start from Jake Stachovak of Aqua Adventures. He is currently paddling around the entire Eastern US from Portage Wisconsin down the
Mississippi, through the Gulf of Mexico, up the Atlantic to the Erie Canal, through the Great Lakes back to Portage. I saw him on his trip this spring
when he stayed with us at Florida Bay Outfitters, (my winter gig) and Rick and Hank paddled with him last week as he crossed the mouth of Delaware
Bay. Jakes blog, http://www.portagetoportage.com/blog.html .
We got a ride back to San Diego with Cliff Taylor. A wonderful gentleman who lives in Mulege' and rents some cool houses there.

Do you have contact info? Would be interested in more details on rentals.

Wow... Joel... what a fantastic trip you guys made and professionally documented in this video.
I really didn't have time to watch the whole thing, when I started, but could not stop watching it. Before I knew it, it was at the end.
The rock wall you guys built to protect against the wind was a great idea! Or, maybe it was already there?
Welcome to the Baja Nomad board.
Bob H
PS: Loved the guitar music!

Cliff Taylor runs Hacienda & Casitas in the Oasis Rio Baja. www.clementinesbaja.com , His email clifftaylor1942@hotmail.com.
JoelBeckwith - 6-4-2010 at 09:04 AM
Bob the rock wall was built by Rick while we were stranded by El Norte. I tend to just walk and wander when wind bound. That may be my favorite part.
The wandering that is.
