CONGRATULATIONS to Danya, Sara and Juvenal on becoming PADI's latest Open Water Scuba Instructors!!

This was the first ever PADI Instructor Development Course conducted in Mulege. The start of something new in the area. Although I only had three Candidates for the IDC, PADI very kindly still sent down an Instructor Examiner last weekend for the lucky three. All passed with flying colors and straight fives (100% scores) most of the way. The three Candidates were examined in Knowledge Development ( a stand up presentation to the examiner). Academic Theory Knowledge (diving physic's, physiology, dive equipment, the Recreational Dive Planner and skills and the environment. Plus of course water work by giving a Confined Water presentation as well as an Open Water one. Of course Rescue skills were not left out as this is hopefully never used, but is a dire need for PADI Instructors.

This was my smallest IDC for a long time, the last this small was in Egypt, but it was fun, and being as we had a 100% success rate, it was well worth the hours.

However, I shall NEVER use DHL again unless they are truly the final option. They were worse than useless, and that combined with Mex customs proved to be a nightmare. Still, all's well that ends well.

So, Cortez Explorers and myself offer our sincere CONGRATULATIONS to Danya, Sara and Juvenal. A great job by three great people!!

what was the problem with DHL ? If you have never used BajaPack, they are fantastic

congratulations to all the new instructors and to you Mick and a special felizidades to your mexican student...all those endless nights of work certainly paid off for your students...now you can relax and celebrate!!

Hi there and good evening!! Yes, I most certainly have heard of Bajapack, and could not agree more with your thoughts. That is the way I usually go about getting things sent down here. I normally have things sent to my son who lives in San Diego, and he pops across the border at TJ, drops them at the bus station, and I get it the next day. As you say, they are fantastic.
However, this time, my son is in Rio for most of the year, so that option was out, therefore it was down to DHL, and they failed miserably to inform me for over a week on the status of my materials. I then had to juggle with customs, and it all turned into a nightmare. So whereas things should normally take three to four days by DHL, and faster through my son, it took four weeks in total. Things just were not up to standard, up to scratch,

Still, at the end of the day, I have three more Candidates that passed their PADI Instructor Exams, and that's what counts I suppose...

Cheers Shari, yes, I could do with a day or so off at the moment, but that will have to wait. Picking up Emma and Thea on Thursday at LAX, and should be with you on Saturday I reckon after a shopping trip or two, and an easy ride south with my girls. Would like to book Juan if possible for Monday AM to take the girls snorkeling with the sea lions on the island opposite your house and the launch site. The same place I went with Danya to earlier in the year. I just want the girls to experience Pacific sealions, fur seals etc as they do here in Mulege each time they come over. And this year, I can officially teach Thea to dive now that she is ten years old. Neither of us can wait...

I'll pass along your congratulations to Juve. He worked extremely hard to earn his OWSI. I am so pleased with him, and for him!! Danya and Sara did magically also. Must not forget the ladies!!

2 a.m. bedtimes were the norm for a couple weeks, but now we're all getting back to status quo, which is to say we're continuing to love all that Baja holds!
