I'd have had the same concerns & done the same thing you did....just in stronger Spanglish!
Good thing you didn't miss your plane since your ride had left!
And
Bouli's room didn't look like it had a bed you'd have found comfy!

Kate,
Thanks for the report. Yes, I am very familar with the "obsure unmarked door". Not only do employees and "sky caps" use this door but in the past
that is where everyone went to get their FM departure stamp. We use to be able to go back without an airline employee but there were so many FM 2/3
holders showing their FM's just so they could meet their arriving guest...instead of waiting out in the arrival area like the rest of us...and that is
when INM required FM holders to have an escort. What a pain in the a** that was...but then it only takes a few people to spoil things for the rest of
us. INM then put an agent out in the ticket coutner area of Terminal 1 so passengers could get the departure stamp in their FM's...how sweet that was
for all of us.
As far a I am concered...the jury is still out on this new system. Just have a bad feeling the dates are not going to get entered correctly...if
entered at all.
I would be interested in the second half of your experience...the entry back into Mexico.

Kate,
Welcome home and thanks for the report. I am doing the same thing...keep my exit and entry boarding tickets. I have this sick feeling that dates
will not being entered correctly. Hope I am wrong.

Classic Mexican bureaucracy..............find someone else to do your job, if possible.
I'm sure the airlines agreed to assist, knowing what a forni-cluster INM would make of it when a whole planeload needed stamping before exiting.

Well....time to bump this thread back to the top.
FYI - my experience last month:
Departed SJD (Cabo airport) on a United flight. I have one of the new FM-2 cards and I had to fill out an FMM. The INM agent kept one half of it and
my half was stamped on the back with the exit date.
I returned to Mexico by walking across the border at San Ysidro and taking a taxi to the airport for a Volaris flight back to La Paz. I stopped at
the INM office at the border and the agent there really did not have a clue about what to do with my new FM-2 card and FMM form - just waved me
through without doing anything.
So at the TJ airport I checked in with the INM agent - he checked my documents and returned my half of the FMM to me and apparently scanned my FM-2.
As per Kate and Karen...I just hope the date is recorded correctly and I'm also keeping all travel documents related to this trip.
Hope this helps any future travelers.
