Its like I,m sitting in a bee,s nest, I missed who it was but some team is b-tching about the horns.

The sound, the color its just to much,I also like the idea of countries putting the very best they have together and compete with the world.

When I think of the Bejing Olympics, I immediatly think of the Birds Nest Stadium.
Now, and probably forever, my immediate thoughts of the South Africa World Cup will be insect repellent.
If it aggravates me so much through television, I can't imagine how distasteful it would be for those sitting in the middle of it. It would have to be like a gawwwdammmm two week New Years Eve party at midnight.

Oh well....considering where they are, I guess the world can be thankful it's not drums.

when the world cup comes to baja Dennis will lead the drum procession and everyone around the world will be wondering what the hell all the drums are about????

:lol: I was going to keep it as a surprise, but that's OK. Now I can practice long into the night....after I get home from Sharkey's, of course.

Practice at Sharkey's and get some feedback.
That way future responses won't be total surprises.

Another thought:
Maybe play the drums and hummmmmm...... "you'll never be alone" at the same time.

I'm not a major soccer fan, but I tuned in to see the US and England. The horns were very disrupting, Seemed disrespectful, kind of a LRAD? sonic curtain to what end? I won't watch anymore.

Cyanide41 - 6-14-2010 at 10:17 AM

after a while you don't really notice it anymore.

They use the horns to keep the spectators awake for the whole match.

The horns are their cultural norm....all you have to do is turn down the volume on the TV as figuring out soccer is not really that difficult...:light:

BajaBlanca - 6-15-2010 at 10:30 AM

very annoying horns :fire:

I like the horns...it's soccer I hate!

Finally! ESPN put in some sound filters. The GD vuvuzelas were still annoying, but at least you could hear the commentary. That was somewhat moot though, since it was impossible to determine what the hell the Scotsman was saying.

Brazil 2, N.Korea 1. Who would win not really in doubt, top rated vs. lowest rated. But, the gooks (one of them was named Guk)were surprising, with a very tight defense they held the cariocas scoreless for the first half and escaped humiliation by actually scoring one against the best in the world.

My wife kept laughing every time the announcer identified Kaka or Elano.

My wife kept laughing every time the announcer identified Kaka or Elano.

Same with my girlfriend, but she likes Kaká, so I drove crazy with “So, you like caca, huh?”

I grew up with the game and generally watch it with the sound off, but those who are interested in the commentaries and have a way to feed the sound through an equalizer, you can damp down the 230 and 465Hz frequencies and may improve the sound.

Oddly enough, the vuvuzela phenomenon has inspired me and was able to solve a problem that I had in the design of an automatic normalizer I’ve working on for the past month.
