Coco trip continued

dizzyspots - 6-14-2010 at 03:51 PM

So, when we arrived, Coco had just left for Rancho grande and points North, but thru the technology of Baja Marine radio, and a fluent Spanish speaking "Lance" we intercepted him at Ranco grande and made the trip back to Rancho Grande in 36 minutes from Coco's
After our meeting with Coco, we had lunch in the completely remodeled store/restaurant..the store is now about 1/3 the size of a stateside Circle K and well stocked...we spent Friday night at Sacrificio...dinner and a 50's era documentary about early off road adventure from Nogales to Panama...courtesy of our resident "Inspector Gadget"(Lance) and his powerpoint projector and the cabin exterior wall...after great food and cold cervezas we slept WELL
We returned early Saturday, but were stopped at the Papa Fernandez military checkpoint to assis a little girl with a fish hook imbeded in her hand, after fixing that issue and rewarding her bravery with soda and candy we headed North, stopping at several remote coves , spending Sat night at Pete's Camp, being serenaded ALL night by a trio of Mexican ladies, energized by fluids of unknown brand or type
We had a delicious breakfast at Pete's and returned home via the Mexicali crossing...
The wind remained brisk enough to prevent launching the kayak and without suitable beach fishing tackle or bait, we went home fishless, but will return in Late ocotber to try again

until then

What's the status on Coco? Are you bringing him legs in October when you come back?

dizzyspots - 6-16-2010 at 09:40 AM

I will defer to Lance at disabledexplorers.com for exact details, but "readers digest" version is "yes", providing:
we are not duplicating any other efforts( Coco doesnt need FOUR legs), the status of his possible "revision" surgery
and fund raising
The disabled explorer staff and a prosthetic manufacturer were on hand and did make current molds...visit www.disabledexplorers.com for current information, updates , etc
