I've never really noticed much difference in catch rates with line color. I recently got a request to bring down some mono to a friend on the Pacific
side with very explicit instructions: no green or yellow, just smoke blue. Wow - I think all my reels have either clear or green on them. Some of

I now have moss green P-line CXX now. But my leaders are Yo Zuri Flouro in Pink. I used to only use Ande Pink. It is the favorite of all the pangero
fisherman in the area.
I have also ran Tripplefish, multi colored line and it work good to. Trolling at 10mph, the fish don't get to look at the line all that carefully

I think the fish see the line more than we can imagine. Sooo I'm a big Floro guy. I'm convinced that the new stuff really is invisible in some light

In my case. banditos saw my surplus line and now I can't find it. We are talking about 9000+ yards in 40 and 20.

I have changed out most of my reel with Spectra to give me the line capacity on smaller reels and run about a 50 yd. topshot of clear mono. David
Jones of Fisherman's Fleet said he is sold on the benefits of flouro and his boats are on the water everyday so I trust his advice and now always use

For me, any premium mono in clear works. Doesn't matter if it's Ande, Big Game or Izor, I'll fish it with confidence. Not a big fan of colored line
unless I'm freshwater bass fishing, then it's P-Line CXX green.
I'm still unsold on the floro though many top notch anglers swear by it, so many that it can't be discounted.

Have seen dog snapper refuse to take a bait because they could see the line. Matched the line with the water color, but could only get 30#. They would

Flouro works well and if you have really line shy fish, then it can be worth the extra expense. I use all spectra so it really does not make much
difference about the cost differential, because I only use less than 100 feet. With dirty green water, the green line is very good. With very clear
water the blues and clears work the best.
One of the marketing things that really cracks me up is the pink or red line because it is supposed to disappear when it gets down a little in the
water, but all you need to do is put on your snokel and mask and see what really happens. The red and pink turns into black or grey and shows very

I've seen green line out fish clear line when fishing inshore on numerous occasions. When fishing offshore blue or clear seems to be best. I've also
had great luck with pink Ande when fishing inshore. P line is a popular brand, but it doesn't handle the abuse of fishing in the rocks like other

I always fish Berkley Big Game since it overtests it's stated line strength very well, but I got a bad spool and so tested some other lines in the
same stated line test, but Big Game still broke at a higher test than Izorline, Maxima, or Ande, so I guess it is possible to get one spool of bad
line, but now, I break test the line before putting it on the reel.
If you are fishing a lot of structure, you may find it worthwhile to test your lines and knots frequently and it may keep you from losing a fish who
has you on the edge.
