used to get a lot of those on WA coast, would find tat least a couple every time walking the beach. not too exciting after collecting a few hundred. after a while, they were just glass orb trash.

dead animals on beach are just smelly, not too exciting after passing age 10

Almost gone now,( at least compared to the whole ship.) I just hope the big chunks are swept out of the surf zone

I had to assemble the two pieces.

I found a MRE a few years ago.. it was good. Had never seen one before. Liked the heater element so the food gets hot.

If you eat that MRE, keep the toilet paper close at hand, you will probably need it. JH

No photo but I found an intact computer monitor and keyboard on a Pacific beach outside of Magadalena Bay several years ago. It was half buried in the sand and had barnacles attached.

Still looking for the "hay bale" you hear stories about :D

Von - 6-24-2010 at 09:45 AM

with the head on it only! no arms or legs it was all white like if it were in the

water for weeks! eeewwwww~

Washed up stuff? Egads..where to begin?

Over the years of my living near Mulege, I recall:

-4 corpses found washed up on the shores of Conception Bay, (all separate incidents & no foul play was suspected in any.) I was first responder at 2.

-one corpse without hands or feet on the beach at Pta. Chivato west of the hotel (foul play is certainly suspected..unless this is the most unusual case of suicide on record.) Doc Lyons figured into this one.

- 22 sperm whales threw themselves onto a sandy beach near San Bruno for some unknown reason, and subsequently died.

I have a plaque made of a vertebra and a tooth.

- various notes in bottles, maybe 30-40 throughout the 80's-90's? All from Johnny Tequila anchored in front on his trimaran, Quetzal.

- Too many porpoise carcasses..dead from nets - mayhem in the Bay. ggrrrrrr

- However, if given a lemon, make lemonade:

- one waterproofed brick (uno kilo) of some substance along the shore many miles north of La Paz.
we threw it back into the ocean....while the guy in uniform was watching us through binoculars from the bluff behind...:saint:

And that's what we did. Right? Bob..Evelyn?

- one 1969 Chev Blazer south end of the bay...in about 4 feet of water at high tide. No sign of the driver.

- one Alumnacraft 18ft backtroller boat with 50hp Merc outboard. Lots of electronics. Mine.

- too many sailboats, kayaks, catamarans, and assorted pangas to count.

- one ghost Halloween costume.

- a large (4ft diameter) swimming pool water balloon spotted floating 30 miles out..(I am assuming it got to the beach eventually.)

- a 1000 liter propane tank (now at a friend's home)

- a gazillion red crabs in 1988. (covered every beach from Mulege to San Sebastian Cove)

- a blue floating chair. May , 2010. mine. I think a shark had towed it away to play with..then got bored.

And some other foggy memories....

I'm told this sailboat probably has a 5-6' keel buried in the sand.

I had one of those Mac's also, haha. JH

windgrrl - 6-25-2010 at 01:51 PM

1. A windsurfer with a broken leg suddenly appeared where we were staying in La Ventana after hauling himself in from the sea. He was tended to passersby, wrapped in blankets and transported to La Paz in the back of a small station wagon. I wonder how he fared.

2. A cut-off giant squid tentacle which we presented to and was relished by the lovely local lady beach dogs.

Found on Playa Tecolote.

BMG - 6-25-2010 at 06:36 PM

I believe this is a spark plug taken from Fred Flintstone's car. I was going to put it in my moped but couldn't figure out how to gap it.

Pompano - 6-25-2010 at 06:54 PM

There are quite a few of these around the old beachlines in the windrows..pretty old though, rough condition. I have found a small assortment, plus a couple of nicer arrowheads.

More than likely busted off at the bolts.

fishabductor - 6-26-2010 at 01:18 PM

Pompano,

wasn't that Blue/white sailboat knocked over in Jimena? You can see the trailer in the photo. I drove by about 4 days after and remember it. I probably have a photo of it if i looked through the 1000's my wife took on the drive.

Pompano - 6-26-2010 at 03:47 PM

And another at about the same time...although a mite north of there. Pescadero Beach, Ca. Opps..sorry.

Appeared to be a gunshot wound in the head.

There was another object washed up on the beach..see it? Double trajedy.

Russ - 6-26-2010 at 04:53 PM

Hurricane John brought a lot of Mulege river homes and dreams to Punta Chivato beaches. I just couldn't go down and rummage through peoples nightmares. But after the vultures picked the beaches mostly clean I ventured out and rescued this guy. Also found an 6' florescent tube unbroken in the rubble.
