noproblemo2 - 6-26-2010 at 08:40 PM

dianaji passed away this week. She made her transition peacefully while outside her home, potting her plants and cacti.

A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 3 pm in Encinitas.

DENNIS - 6-26-2010 at 08:59 PM

What a shame. Always thought I would like to meet her.

Pompano - 6-27-2010 at 06:30 AM

I never had the chance to meet her, but to me, her posts and her avatar seemed to reflect her love of Baja with gentleness..a quality becoming rarer and rarer. Dying as she did, working in her garden, perhaps more things will grow, and she will represented in them for eternity.

Rest in peace.

noproblemo2 - 6-27-2010 at 07:05 AM

Diana was a unique soul who lived for her plants. Her dream was Baja but due to that was not to be for her. I have some of her plants here at my home that will always be a memory of her. She was truly one of a kind and those who met her will attest to that.

wessongroup - 6-27-2010 at 07:18 AM

So sorry to hear.. she was a kind heart in a strange world.. must say, if I were to go... can't think of a better way.. she liked it there

Does anyone know what she passed of, and what her age was?

I don't think she was a member of this board for more than a year.

David K - 6-27-2010 at 09:15 AM

She had a home in San Marcos she couldn't sell in this economy and that was what promted her to give up on living in Baja... and that was after all the effort she made getting a mobile home down there... etc.

I talked to her on the phone when she called me for some information... maybe a year or more ago.

Bajafun777 - 6-27-2010 at 09:22 AM

She had a true nomad spirit, so this is just more reason for all of us to forget the stressors of the world and just enjoy life. I finally retired and will do as much of my "Bucket List" I can before the man upstairs calls me and my wife of 35 years home. Too much Fun in Baja and other parts of Mexico to miss out on worrying about things,LOL. "No Hurry,No Worry, Just Fun" bajafun777

A loss for us earthlings, perhaps dianaji will now tend the gardens at the gates of heaven. Bless her soul.

Sad news. Condolences to all who knew her. She kept fighting to realize her dream. As mentioned she did have a kind way about her and stayed positive thru the negativity. Based on photos she had a way with cactus and succulents!

Rest in peace dianaji!!

Diana had a double wide in La Mision and really got the shaft on the entire deal, she had it brought down to realize her dream of living here full time, but thru bad contacts on both her part and the ejido and neighbors and a great deal of money she spent was never able to get electricity to her lot there. She spent xmas with us at our home and met many wonderful people and truly realized one of her dreams of xmas in Baja. She was looking into purchasing a lot elsewhere and we had found the location for her, however I guess that was not to be for her. She did truly love Baja and all it has to offer that along with her first love, her plants.. Her son Daryl is now left and is in morning, when I spoke with him yesterday he seemed quite amazed at her wide circle of friends.... These messages will be passed to him when he is ready for them, today will be very difficult for him and my heart goes out to him and his children..

Keri - 6-27-2010 at 12:54 PM

Diana was a great gal ,a real free spirit. So sorry she never got to finish her place here in La Mision. RIP. Vaya con dios ,k

BajaBlanca - 6-27-2010 at 01:57 PM

wish I had met her to share our love for plants...RIP Diana.

Bajahowodd - 6-27-2010 at 04:41 PM

I'm saddened by her passing. And, I must admit, somewhat surprised, as having never met her, I drew what was a false impression of her age. Her posts always struck me as being filled with youthful joy and amazement. RIP.

toneart - 6-27-2010 at 04:48 PM

Her sweet soul shone through in her posts here. It spoke to me. I had hoped to meet her one day. Her heart avatar represented her well!

Wow! What a gardener, and what a marvelous photographer. I had no idea!

RIP, Dianaji. :saint:

bajabound2005 - 6-27-2010 at 04:58 PM

Well, a couple of years ago, I took a chance and invited her to brunch at our house, having never met her. She came to take cutting from some our succulents. Now, I don't regret taking that chance.

DEP, Dianaji

Loretana - 6-27-2010 at 05:25 PM

Does anyone have a photo of her to post?

I was also quite taken by her kind soul which always shone through in her posts.

God speed, amiga.

I really enjoyed her posts.

BajaGringo - 6-27-2010 at 08:25 PM

You beat me to it - thanks Ken...

UnoMas - 6-27-2010 at 08:29 PM

RIP Diana
I alway's read her posts as they were an adventure with the trials and tribulations of moving to Baja. Very determined in her goals and even those who tried to discourage her just made her that much more determined.

Diver - 6-27-2010 at 09:28 PM

Always sad to hear of another Baja-lover's passing.
By her photo she appears much too young to leave us.

By the energy of her posts I envisioned a younger woman, thin with dark hair ... and quite pretty.
I will remember her this way.

My thoughts are with her family.

Bob H - 6-27-2010 at 11:27 PM

so sad.... RIP Diana........ Bob H

Paula - 6-28-2010 at 08:54 PM

To Daryl and to all of Diana's family, she was lovely... although I never met her this came through in her posts here. She always spoke her truth, and she spoke it straight from the heart. She was one of a kind, and I think this world was not always an easy place for her to inhabit. May she live on through those who loved her.
