I am coming down with my trusty Yellow Lab, Gringo the Dingo and will be there with a group around October 10th. Our dogs will once again run around like idiots and enjoy every moment of it. How is the road from Highway #1 compared to last year?

We will E-Mail you in the summer when our plans get a little more firmed up.

I guess this should of been under Baja road conditions. If I knew how to move it I would.

Hey Howard and Gringo...the road is supposed to be paved all the way into Asuncion by August so that will be a cake walk compared to the last time you came in....hopefully they will pave the potholes on the road from Vizcaino...at the moment, it's a nightmare!!

No, this year smart alec!!! Most of the road look ready to lay the pavement now. The coast road to Abreojos is not too bad...so I'm told...we might go to La bocana to visit Blanca next week so i'll report on how it is.
good roads...less car repairs!!

Lower your tire pressure and remove your hubcabs going west Vizcaino to Asuncion. The potholes from Viz to the A'cion turnoff are Killer! I'll take the cordoury washboard from Asuncion to Abreojos any day of the year-- love that lonely Pacific Coast where you can chill and go slooow. You can pressure up in Vizcaino or San Ignacio.

I think I would rather do this too. I almost did but didn't have enough good current information on this direct route. Why not pressure up when you reach La Bocana, Abreojos or Asuncion?

Oh how I miss Shelley's lunch treats...she kept me fed up good!! and Ms.Woody's margaritas kept me...umm...happy!

Now about that vizcaino road...today I hunted down the road engineers here and they told me that when they finish paving here, they WILL DEFINATELY fix up the potholes...got my fingers and toes crossed.

@Toneart: air for tires here (asuncion) is easy to get and free and you can probably get it in Bocana, not sure so Blanca would know better than me.

Let's hope they do get that road fixed because it's dangerous and horribly annoying...I'm keeping my fingers and toes and even my eyes crossed so that they finish at least half before september....can you imagine traveling on that road while 9 months pregnant?? YIKES!:( :o

filling up with air is fine here too!! but you really want them lowered til you reach highway 1 again ....

we recently took coastal route to asuncion from bocana and it was a breeze. and this with a FULL truck with 5 bikes and 7 humans !!

The road between Bahia Asuncion and Abreojos depends a lot on how the weather has been and when it was graded --- like most dirt road.

We have traveled the main road when parts were difficult to cross a couple of weeks after a big storm when it had not soaked in as of yet. We have also been on it when it was a washboard nightmare --- different parts get graded at different times.

The salt flats are great and what the locals use----unless there has been a big storm or extreme tides and then they are slow to dry. But there are major parts where salt flats are not available so it depends greatly on when the last grader passed through.

But it is a beautiful drive and well worth the trip if you have not been that way before. No matter the conditions, we travel down that direction often.

Well, there are drugs here ---- not widespread, but the locals know who the users are. :yes::yes:

Kat, you would be very safe here. If you camp, you can set up a RV or tent anywhere with no problems.

If we are in town, stop-by and visit. We won't blow your cover.

Hola Ya'll. Howard, of course Shelley will work her culinary magic when we're there. I call it magic because it is - my waistline testifies to this as it can grow exponentially! By the by, today, July 4th, is my lovely child bride's BIRTHDAY! Due to direct threats on my life, I cannot divulge her age, let's just say it falls between Baby Huey's and Methusila's. We'll be going down to our towns 4th of July parade this morning. It will probably last all of 5 minutes as Santa Margarita is kind of in the sticks. Ever seen a tractor made up with crape paper? We're both Jonesing real bad to get back to paradiso, and will be stocking up on plenty of goodies to eat and Costco booze for the afternoon fiestas. Hoping to be there by mid September.
