Thanks, Judy....You're a pal.

Bajahowodd - 7-3-2010 at 03:37 PM

My friend Dennis was just too quick for me. Kudos. From the photos, it looks like you folks have been dealing with that June gloom thingy, eh?

fishabductor - 7-3-2010 at 06:15 PM

If that's a huge Rooster..I'd hate to see a small one.

That is probably only about a 30 pounder.

Good size however, if it's caught of the beach.

capt. mike - 7-4-2010 at 07:06 AM

why keep it? can you eat those? or do they go to the cat food guy?

bajajudy - 7-4-2010 at 08:51 AM

The locals make ceviche with rooster. Tastes pretty good!

That is one of the few things I do not like around here---yuk.

Judy,
Nice photos---and I wonder if there is any fish around here that the locals do not eat one way or another. The boys look real proud and I am sure they will enjoy them.

I LOVE your close up of the rooster---he is beautiful and looks like a peace loving guy.

Even the smaller ones are Huge in my little world!

Henry is one of the most handsome roosters I have ever seen, BUT if he were peace loving guy, he would not be in the cage. He started attacking me every time I went to the clothes line, so it was either Henry in cage or no clean clothes.

Pescador - 7-4-2010 at 10:41 AM

They also dry them and make Machaca which is pretty good too.
The meat turns an ugly grey when cooked and it is pretty bad but a lot of people like it. Skeet thinks it is wonderful and he likes it but he is in pretty much of a minority

Oh my, an attack rooster----can you train him to be a watch rooster to protect your property?

one of those would "spool" me before I could set the drag.. nice fish.. can't imagine hooking up with one like those close in to shore.. would take ones breath away.. got a big sand shark once.. but that was like hauling in seaweed.. hooked up something as big this guy don't think it would be just laying around .......... I would have been in a state of shock ... cool fish..

Ken Bondy - 7-4-2010 at 12:24 PM

Very nice Judy!! Correct me if I am wrong (happens all the time) but I only see one pez gallo being carried by the boys. Aren't the other two fish toro?

fishabductor - 7-4-2010 at 01:15 PM

hard to tell on the biggest fish. One definately is a Toro, one a rooster, and the other is a ??.

They do make good machaca.

Cypress - 7-4-2010 at 01:22 PM

Roosters are just Jack Crevells with frills. Bloody looking meat, not real tastey, but each to their own.

bajajudy - 7-4-2010 at 01:23 PM

The hugest one is also a rooster. I didnt realize that I had not gotten a good shot of him. As you can see, he is easily 3 1/2 to 4 ft. long

All of these fish were caught from shore.

bajajudy - 7-4-2010 at 01:31 PM

Someone else was busy that morning too.
Egret for breakie anyone?

DENNIS - 7-5-2010 at 07:59 AM

I thought Machaca was beef.

baitcast - 7-5-2010 at 08:04 AM

I like that example....However I think there maybe a little meth in their blood as well. as well as a few dubbies as roosters are always hungry.
