Animal Activism Out-of-Whack

I just read a post from a very nice lady who was trying to adopt a cat in San Diego.

She had to fill out a form that was something next to adopting a child; she had to wait for an appointment to "view" the possible "subjects" and she had to wear rubber gloves when "interacting with the "subjects".

Excuse me, but WTF? Just drive on down to any pet store in TJ or Rosarito and you can buy a pure bred Persian or Siamese or Rag Doll or other kitten that has been discarded from by the breeder as unsellable.

Breeders of fighting dogs buy them up for "training" purposes.

mexico sure does sound nice.

i applaud the lady in san diego, and deplore the way many mexicans treat animals

I am not really "getting" this as to the headline. Are you saying the methods of adopting in U.S. are too restrictive and filled with red tape? But then it seems you say it is easy for dog fighters to find a pet in Mexico to kill ...but wouldn't some restrictions help this? Not being contrary, just not seeing the point!

perhaps if animal care organizations in mexico were as careful and caring as in the US, there would be fewer abused and unwanted animals in mexico. perhaps gypsy jan posted without thinking first

They should focus on people before focusing on animals. How many wifes and children are abused and unwanted in Mexico as well as any other countries?

I am all for proper treatment of animals, but I too think that it is way overboard.

i suspect your nom de plume is an indication of your caring for animals :(

i am amused by people that say we should do x before we do y. the world is full of many people, and some will do x and some will do y. people like fishkiller will tell people to do x before y, but he does neither x nor y.

Fishabductor...as in weigh, photo, measure and release...as in alien abductions.....However I do eat some of the fish I catch.

I take it animals are more important to you than People...My guess is you don't get along with many people and animals are much easier for you.

You must be a veggie....either that or a hypocrite.

And I don't get bull fighting either... sorry, knowing what happens in the end.. kinda takes it out of the realm of entertainment.. for me.. know it is loved by many... as is "running of the bulls".. another one I don't get ...

Kinda reminds me of the movie where they get Eddie Murphy to run across the Hollywood Freeway a couple of times ... the Director was which required this action, Steve Martin.. a funny movie.. Bowfinger

The gloves are way over the edge, one needs to interact with them not thru plastic, just uncalled for in my book. While there are so many animals in Mexico to adopt or who will adopt you, there are also many in the states as well that are abandoned... The woman should go elsewhere to find her pet...

We adopted a beautiful Shepard mix about 6 months ago and we are about to adopt a Rhodesian Rhidgeback next week, just waiting for the owners to return so I can get the girl. Both have been adopted in BCS. The first from Friend"s of Animals( not sure if the name is correct, but the lady's name was sheila) out of Barriles and the second via a private individual.

Good for you, with us the critters seem to just appear at our home, whether we want another or not, they have decided they need a home and are welcomed too, after they are fed and bathed !!!! We're up to 4 cats and 2 1/2 dogs, the 1/2 comes to eat and sleep then leaves at night to walk with the security guard.. plus she divides her time between our home and another friends home we all love the girl....

Our dogs do the same thing they come to eat and then off to the beach or wherever it is they spend their days. They do however sleep outside our bedroom which is great for security and peace of mind.


We currently have 3 dogs, 4 come next week. Our 3 cats now live at our families ranch, we are looking to pick up a couple to help on mice and rats.

Anybody know of any kittens in the Los Cabos area. especially the eastcape area?

My wife won't let them come in. My last German shorthair slept i my bed, and when I lived in MT and camped in the winter, she slept in my sleeping bag down by my feet. She loved it, and I loved the warm feet.

I thought she'd suffercate, but she never did.

Only to be thrown in a cage full of fighting dogs and roosters sporting blades!!

Not that I condone this, however most Mexican men I know would be up in arms if PETA came down and tried to make it c-ck fighting illegal, dog fighting already is illegal.
