surprised that anyone came forward to testify given the current conditions.. can only hope they get out ok.. and it does not look promising at this
time..

For a comparison, here's the 2008 crime/murder rates for the major US cities, with a coupla exceptions (2008 was a bad year for TJ), Mexico don't look
too bad.

Started with good all Wikipedia.. the first table only has statistics date in 2004, the "color coded maps" however have a date of 19/3/10

Think it's a bit higher than that...
Those numbers (162 are from the WSJ article interactive map) .. the second set of numbers are from Wikipedia which are in fact quite a bit higher...
Rate for BCN = 27.7/100,000 given as 2 x the National Rate
Population for Baja Norte.. 3,000,000 estimate [ 3,165,776 (June 2009)]
3,000,000/100,000= 3000*27.7= 831 as of date supplied 19/3/2010
The source of the information again is from Wikipedia
Would this seem closer to what you're thinking.. that works out to 277 per month... 831/3=277 per month average
Thanks did not work it all out... those are sobering stats to a population of 3,000,000 with a citizenry prevented from possessing firearms, law ..
perhaps the citizens should be armed
