Lucy looks like a little dot compared to this tree that's not nearly as big as some of the others.
Lucy hams it up sitting on a log.
Our campsite
At some point, some yahoo idiots show up and run the loudest sounding generator non-stop.
It certainly wasn't hot enough to run air conditioning. The affected campers (everybody else) would hold impromptu meetings to discuss how rude these
noisy bastards are and just what the heck was going while the generator people were huddled up in their trailer and also discussed ways to sabotage
their generator. I sent my son and his new found friend on a mission to spy and photograph the offending generator people. Those two must have taken
over 100 photos, but that's OK because it's a digital camera, and I can delete what we cant use. Somebody must have confronted them because they
eventually cut it out.
As soon as they fired up the generator, we quickly packed up the motorhome and moved to a new spot away from the noise makers. I don't know about
these people, but I'd feel at least a little funny if I did something that would cause adjacent campers to immediately pack up and move away.
Fortunately, if we hiked a short distance and entered what we dubbed the "sound chamber," we could experience quiet solitude with a view.
A scenic spot near the sound chamber
After visiting the sequoias, we took a quick detour to So. Cal.
Perhaps Lucy has aspirations of superstardom.

Those are great pictures, Lucy is a lucky dog!shari - 7-28-2010 at 01:27 PM
OMG....who'da thunk little Lucy girl would travel the world!!! and to think Juan was upset that she "moved on"!!! A little background on Lucy for the
newbies....Lucy was found whimpering in the bow of an old discarded panga in front of what is now the Beach House...she and her little sister were
teeny little newborn puppies and I didnt think they would survive.
Juan fed them carnation canned milk with a dropper and nursed them till they were old enough to leave the panga home. Lucy's sister was pretty cute so
went to a new home but Lucy girl was...well....a bit homely to say the least so we were stuck with her...I mean kept her.
One year Packoderm came to Asuncion with his wonderful son and I lent them Lucy for a week...she was so happy with them I just couldnt separate them
and suggested that they adopt little Lucy (with fingers crossed behind my back)
Thus began Lucy's new life as a pampered pup...sleeping on the bed, travelling the world and now look at her...Hollywood!!! Thanks so much for
enriching Lucys life amigos...juan loved the photos.

Packoderm, Thanks for sharing your adventure.vandenberg - 7-28-2010 at 01:59 PM
Nice pictures from one of my favorite parks.
Question though:
Any particular reason you didn't confront those ignorant folks on their use of that generator.
I'm not the confrontational type, but had a few run ins with these type of folks, especially in Yosemite, where moving to a different spot was not an
option.dtbushpilot - 7-28-2010 at 02:06 PM
Great story and pictures Pack, looks like an epic adventure. Jill and I will be headed that way in a couple of weeks.
How do you like the Toyota? Enough power in the mountains? Thanks for sharing.....dtshari - 7-28-2010 at 02:26 PM
I'm gonna miss your old VW bus!!!Packoderm - 7-28-2010 at 03:33 PM
Actually, I still have the VW, but it has a bad valve. I hope to fix it eventually. the Toyota (22R four cyl.) made it up some very steep inclines,
but at a nice, slow pace. I overheated the brakes going down, but that was due to my inexperience driving a motorhome. The brakes cooled down after an
hour, I put it in first (manual), and crept down without hitting my brakes. As to why I didn't confront the generator people, I quickly moved away
from them, they were a group of about 40 Asian people, so I didn't want to agitate or insult them, and it was fun watching the other campers'
confoundment concerning the matter. Days before they showed up, a small group of older Laotians set up camp. They sat on very short basket type
stools, didn't understand the other campers' introductions, and seemed overall very foreign. I grabbed the bag of marshmallows, dragged the two kids
to their camp, and we showed them about roasting marshmallows. They seemed very impressed, offered BBQed trout (very, very tasty), and put a shot of
Laotian whiskey in my hand. It was an awesome exchange of cultures with many smiles all around. They were the quietest campers I've ever encountered.noproblemo2 - 7-28-2010 at 03:55 PM

Pac: I'm loving these photo trips with Lucy. Keep 'em coming.Barbareno - 7-29-2010 at 05:28 AM
Hard not to break out in a grin seeing Lucy Loo again. Just prior to her rescue from Packoderm, I seen Lucy up on Juan and Shari's outhouse. She was
in heat and Juan figured that was the safest place to be. Now look at her!
She could write a book. Santiago - 7-29-2010 at 08:00 AM

Fathers the world over have been struggling with this issue. Not a bad solution.
