Not according to this:

http://www.aeromexico.com/en_us/destinations/north-america/m...

Their La Paz pin on the map looks to be in Loreto but it's listed as La Paz.

True...only horizon to and from LAX, currently Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday...Saturday is supposed to be added in November, and aerocalafia locally.

As I've mentioned before, once the Villa Group gets serious about selling their time shares at Ensenada Blanca, chances are they will get involved with subsidizing flights, which may well increase service. Last I checked, their first phase is going to be 100 units. Just as rule of thumb, figure that could mean up to 5200 (one week per unit) times as many folks in each unit. That would ultimately appear to greatly increase demand for seats.

bajario - 7-29-2010 at 08:02 PM

This was the timeshare 2 weeks ago.

bajario - 7-29-2010 at 08:04 PM

Have to admit that before I came acquainted with certain facts, we flew it a few times in the late 80's. Fact one- Their fleet was older than dirt. The planes once flew for Airwest, then Republic- really old DC-9s. Fact two- They had a history of maintenance violations and were chronically way behind in paying for their facility at their home base of La Paz.

Bajahowodd - 7-30-2010 at 02:46 PM

I think this is what bajario was trying to post. This is a link to a web cam of the project.

BTW, although I mentioned 100 rooms in the first phase, if we all live so long, the actual plans call for 2200 rooms.

flyfishinPam - 7-30-2010 at 02:58 PM

Oh and you folks who want to get out of that timeshare contract and stop telling us how happy you are with your timeshare and start telling the truth for a change here's a helpful link:

Actually, it is Homex who sponsored the Calafia flight. They are the group that is taking over the remaining lots from Loreto Bay and since they are a Mexican company they are hoping to bring people over from the mainland. They quickly built two units at Loreto Bay for a demo, but then have just as quickly dismantled them. Since they claim to be able to build a unit in 30 days, maybe they decided they didn't need them until they actually have sold units. They have bought lots of properties throughout Mexico and are starting to market them as a ownership/rental program, with the first units in Cabo as a section of a larger complex. Their program actually looks interesting.

Villa Group hasn't done anything yet to increase the air traffic to Loreto. They will need to do that once their project is closer to complete, which should be early next year.

And, as a timeshare owner for over 20 years and a future Loreto resident, I see the value of both types of ownership. When I wanted to travel the world and stay in very nice accommodations, a timeshare unit provided my family a great place to stay. Now that we are planning to spend more time In Loreto, we have been able to sell two of our 5 timeshares. Timeshare is not a scam if you use it. Also, the Villa Group is not only building timeshares but a hotel as well.

Everyone in Loreto seems to cry foul when a tourist organization wants to build up the area with a development, but then they cry again when they fail and the tourists don't come. Businesses in Loreto need to decide what they want. I think what they want is success with an environmental focus. I think that is what we all want.

So right on!! I remember looking out on the wing one time and seeing loose rivets and at night broken lights.
Although not as bad as those old Russian jets into Havana. I was honest to god scared then.

We just inked a deal with Haney's Flying Service & Dusting.

we'll start irregularly unscheduled service out of CrabWell Corners to MMLT (aka LTO) this fall. Connections to CWC will be by Floyd's Cannonball Express.
you may want to check with your hometown airline for routes.
We WILL brink back that Old Tyme Grandeur to flying into Loreto for all you peoples who need to get there.

I was trying to post a pic of the monstrosity I took 2 weeks ago while swimming w/ the family. It says my pic is too big. Anyone know how to shrink it?

capt. mike - 7-31-2010 at 06:52 AM

Not according to the presentation that I attended. There will be no hotel on the site, in fact an "outsider" (e.g. non-timeshare owner) cannot even get in to go to one of the restaurants on the property. Maybe you're referring to that eyesore near the entrance to Loreto called the Santa Fe.

A free program "FastImageResizer" does the job for me. Has to be 49k or less to post.

Of course, since they were trying to sell you a timeshare, they didn't mention the rest of the resort. Here is the link to their Loreto project. There is even a webcam where you can see the current project development status.

And here is evidence of one of the many problems with Villa. They say whatever suits them at any given moment, depending on who they are addressing. Sometimes the whole truth, sometimes part of the truth...
