Departed out of SJD yesterday. While at the ticket counter the agent and I got into a discussion on the "new system". Making a long story short
here is what I found out.
As it has been discussed before, INM is no longer stamping FM books and there is no way to get the FM cards stamped. When the airline ticket agent
ask me "will you be returning back to SJD the next time you come to Mexico?" I answered "Yes, but why do you ask...what if in a couple of months I
decide to go to Cozumel for a dive trip?" She explained "INM has imformed us if there is a possibility of not returning to the same airport you
exited from...THEN you will need to get your FM book stamped." I asked her "what about someone that has the FM card?" Her answer was "then you would
have INM stamp your "FMM Form". Of course the light bulb went off in my head...why not just say "I am not for sure...there is a possibility I may go
to _____." That way your FM book or FMM form would be stamped, of course for those of us that have the FM cards we would need to make a copy of the
"stamped FMM form" for our records.
