another rubber thingy id

i have a really bad metal to metal sound. wondering if i can replace the rubber disc or does the whole shock need to be replaced. a photo of the good and the bad follows.

You can probably replace just the bushing. They come in rubber or polyurethane. the poly ones will last longer. They come in different sizes to fit specific shocks, so make sure, you match part numbers.

However, to see if you need a whole new shock try compressing the shock while it is off the vehicle. if it is easy to do; you need a whole new shock.

I put new poly bushings on Rancho shocks last year. The rubber did not look as bad as yours, but they were close; but after 10 years the shocks themselves are still working great.

Contact 4 Wheel Parts, and tell them you need an Upper Shock Bushing Set made of Polyurethane. Daystar specializes in Polyurethane products for automobiles.
