Watching Camote's interviews with Baja Authors got me wondering; Anybody got the word on Harry Crosby? A another true blue from the old school Baja
Classic and a Man that Don Jimmy adored.bajajudy - 8-8-2010 at 03:56 PM
His son-in-law was in the tienda last week and reported that Harry is 84, living in SoCal and doing well for his age.BajaNomad - 8-8-2010 at 05:14 PM
Harry's in La Jolla, and from what I last knew was swimming somewhat regularly (?) at the pool at La Jolla High School.Eli - 8-8-2010 at 06:36 PM
Doug, Judy thanks for the up-date, I recall him to be always a spire sort of guy, carrying his age for easily than most, it is so good to know he is
still alive and well. I wonder if he still writes?David K - 8-8-2010 at 09:04 PM
Here's Harry Crosby meeting Jimmy Smith (again after many years) at the Pyramid Resorts 2003 Baja Book Signing:

Thanks Mucho David.astrobaja - 8-9-2010 at 08:37 AM
Harry is my wife Pamela's uncle. He regularly corresponds with her via Facebook. We had a great get together with him and his wife Joanne at a
Vietnamese restaurant about 2 months ago. His is an extremely erudite individual, tells wonderful stories and shows no signs mentaly of his 84 years!
I believe that another book is already in the works, hes not one to be inactive, kinda like my Wife!
Putting a face to the legend...

Fascinating guy, Harry Crosby, but could have used a better interviewer to do him justice. David K - 8-9-2010 at 09:39 AM
Just great... great, great, great!Oggie - 8-9-2010 at 09:28 PM
I met Mr. Crosby at lunch in La jolla a month ago. Once he found out I was interested in Baja we could have talked for hours. It was a real treat for
me.Eli - 8-10-2010 at 11:35 AM
Again, thank You El Camote, what you have provided here is invaluable. Ever think you will get togeather with BajaLeara for an interview? That would
be a treasure.Bob H - 8-10-2010 at 12:27 PM

Thanks for the kind words. Coincidentally, looks like Lera lives less than 60 miles from me in California - in fact I'm passing through her town
tomorrow for a camping trip. I'll just "drop in" with a hungry 6-man video crew. Paula - 8-10-2010 at 10:01 PM
El Camote, you are treasure yourself! These interviews are wonderful. Please give us more, and more, and more!bajalera - 8-13-2010 at 04:37 PM
Count me out for an interview, please. My 30-year affair with MrBM would undoubtedly be mentioned, and that would give people good reason to doubt my
sanity.Eli - 8-13-2010 at 05:15 PM
HuH? Mr BM?! Now that is intriguing, come on Leara, tell more.David K - 8-13-2010 at 05:18 PM
Yah... now I am wondering too??? Unless you spill the beans Lee, we will think it is Nomad MrBillM Eli - 8-13-2010 at 05:29 PM
OMG David, I should hope not! That would give me a totally different perspective on both of them!David K - 8-13-2010 at 05:54 PM
I am trying to drag it out of her...!
BM couldn't be Erle Stanley Gardner, Howard Gulick, Ray Cannon, Jimmy Smith, or any other famous Baja person she has or may have bumped into down
there!bajalera - 8-13-2010 at 10:38 PM
No way, DK! Erle and Howard and the rest of those guys were around my age, and my motto has always been, "Git 'em young and train 'em right."
Y'all may have noticed the vitriolic MrBM's tendency to casually mention various women who have succumbed to his charms. Well, there wouldn't have
been enough conquests to brag about had he not benefited from my coaching.David K - 8-14-2010 at 08:52 AM
You are good BajaLera! Eli - 8-14-2010 at 03:14 PM
Really?????????? I am amazed. I never would have put that 1+1 togeather.
Ahem, Bajalera

Ay que querida Lera, I am still sitting here with a raised eyebrow, wondering is she serious? Be it so or not, You are awesomely funny.bajalera - 8-17-2010 at 12:56 PM
Hey, Eli, I gave fair warning that such a relationship would cause people to question my sanity.
Would I lie about such a revolting revelation, Jan? Quite possibly. I had intended to say something about Harry Crosby, who has morphed from
photographer to historian with such remarkable success. His Antigua California is to me a book that every serious Bajaficionado should have.
Then for no particular reason I got swept away by a fit of silliness and hijacked a thread, something I don't recall having done before.
It's definitely a mistake to trust me.Eli - 8-17-2010 at 01:44 PM
Well dang, we all have the highest regard for Harry Crosby, Dad would have set him on Mount Olimpus right next to Zeus if he could of.
Still, hum, hum, hum, did she or didn't she, knowing some of my choices, it is possible Lera too could do something really dumb, in the end, the
hijack was fun. Thanks for the chuckle Lera, you are a dear.
