Don't be a wuss, you're the boss, just keep kicking 'em out of bed, they'll get the idea after a while. They won't love you any less.wessongroup - 8-9-2010 at 08:51 AM

enjoy them ..... they will be gone soon enough... CP - 8-9-2010 at 09:29 AM
Bigger bed doesn't always work...my dog plasters herself to my side no matter how much room there is. I'm with wessongroup - enjoy it. But a snoring
old cat is a different matter! Wish I had an answer for that one....sigh.Bajajorge - 8-9-2010 at 09:36 AM

"Get a bigger bed."
We have a bigger bed, there is a two-foot extension at the end of the bed; two cedar shoe racks that I padded myself.
"Close the door."
The panther knows how to open doors and taught the Rottie how to do it, too.
These four-legged people study you, watch the clock, try to advance breakfast and dinner times and then, because they know that you are getting sleepy
and tired, they sneak into bed first and then, when you throw them out, they wait and return.DianaT - 8-9-2010 at 01:40 PM

Our big dog is also a clock watcher---and he gets in there and claims his spot.
Moving to the couch would not work because they would follow you.
Dog People Understand

Hey, I haven't broken anything when I need to get up to go the bathroom.
Non-dog people would just find this a major irritation and eradicate the "nuisance".noproblemo2 - 8-9-2010 at 02:42 PM
GJ, we have 5 extra critters with us at night, but in the winter the extra body heat is nice...
Sshhh, Don't Give Up the Secret

Cold summer, the coldest on record. Dogs are cheaper than electricity when it comes to keeping your feet warm.Baja&Back - 8-9-2010 at 02:48 PM
Train them. You are bigger than them! (slightly)
Because I Believe In Full Disclosure

For the record, to all Nomads. My dogs outweigh me, but I yell louder.BajaGringo - 8-9-2010 at 02:59 PM
You just train them as best you can and then love them for all they give back to you. Wily said it best - they are with us for such a short time...knuckles - 8-9-2010 at 03:45 PM
They give back so much more than they take. Its a no brainer.toneart - 8-9-2010 at 04:02 PM
For some reason, my dog instinctively knew as a small pup, that my room and bed is my territory. I didn't have to train him to know that.
He did put me through obedience training though, when he was six months old. I am well trained in conceding other liberties.
Speaking of animal warmth in the winter: Years ago (maybe still?), there was a hotel in Mendocino that would rent you a room with an optional cat for
your feet. Even though I tried to decline, my girlfriend insisted on the furry furnace. Ironically, the damn cat hung around my feet instead of hers,
all night. BajaGringo - 8-9-2010 at 05:10 PM

They do love the scent of fish...
About that Snoring Cat
CP - 8-9-2010 at 05:32 PM
Elderly snoring kitty was not a problem since she lost her 'jump' and slept on the floor. But then, her Hero made her this HandiCat Ramp and she is
back in bed with us!

Isn't it funny that they know better and more about love and being grateful than we do ourselves?noproblemo2 - 8-9-2010 at 06:24 PM
