What Tiny Critters Lurk at Night?

DianaT - 8-10-2010 at 02:24 PM

Tiny tracks left behind in the damp dunes.

Just curious if anyone can identify them.

Cougar tracks! Now that would be real interesting!

Thanks for the info and we will watch for them.

Hermit crabs, snakes and mice-- great fun when you're sleeping out on the beach at night!

We used to walk the beaches barefoot at night without flashlights...one night we drove the quad down and saw 2 rattlers on the beach in the same area we fish at night...from then on out it was flashlights and shoes....

...and lots of sporpions, too!

I would have never guessed to find rattlers on the beach!!

Not just at night, but during the day I don't walk through the dunes barefoot----seen too many sorpions, centipedes, velvet ants, red ants, and other stinging creatures that live there.

I just hope any and all snakes stay asleep and hidden during the day. I know they are there, but out of sight, out of mind.

I love seeing the tracks in the morning because they tell about life after dark in the dunes, and once the sand dries, and there is a little breeze, the evidence of that life disappears.

NO, not at all----the often hidden life at night is interesting, ---in all forms.

We have seen a few strange things in the night sky around here----
