Car Trouble Ensenada - Please Help

fatsposner - 8-17-2010 at 09:47 PM

I hope this might be the right place to look. My friend and I were driving back to San Diego and had some pretty serious car trouble with his Volkswagon about 10 kilometers south of Ensenada. Does anyone have any recommendation for a mechanic or an affordable (relatively speaking, i know it will cost a ton) way to get the car back to the US.

Thanks

What year is it? How many miles? Might just be worth taking it to a salvage yard for whatever you can get for it.

Then, take the bus back to the border.

PS: Welcome to the Nomad board.

I also have a great auto mechanic in Ensenada.. The name of his shop is Alejandro... Jose is the owner...

Jose has saved me $thousands$$$ over what US dealership service people have recommended for my 91 Toyota 4Runner, and I have never had a problem with his work. In fact he knows that no one touches any of my "Baja Cars" except him!!!

Several years ago, he and a couple of his employees drove to our property south of San Vicente to pick up a friend's car that was behaving badly... Took him 4 hours to get the car back to Ensenada... but he did it and his price was incredibly reasonable, including the repair!

Tell him Linda and Jerry Vaughn recommended him (Black 91 Toyota 4Runner)! I am confident he will take good care of you and give you a very fair price!

JBweld high temp epoxy seems to work for emergency cracks in blocks... temporarily.

If you want it towed across the border, contact Jimmy from Mexican Auto Services. He can arrange for all of the logistics.

From Mexico, call: 001-866-639-4869

good luck fatsposner .... in my opinion, you should take it to a Mexican mechanic - they are good - they are reasonable. Welcome to BajaNomads - this is indeed the place to ask for advice. You usually get what you ask for (and sometimes a bit more :))))
