Sending a letter to Los Barriles

I need to send a letter with a paint sample to our contractor. Which is the best way to send it FedX or DHL ?

possibilities:

* DHL - good
* FedX - ?
* scan color swatch & send pic as attachment via e-mail
* send swatch in letter to cross-border courier
with instructions to put letter on BajaPak to Los Barriles
* Is there a Nomad coming south who would hand-carry the swatch?

unless you send the mix formula
for the brand of paint you are purchasing
the color will NEVER match

it would be better to scan it and email the attachment
and hope you get close

I receive regular US mail directly to my house in La Paz usually in a few days. Just need the correct address and postal code. It's worth trying to see if this works. If you don't receive regular mail at your place in LB than of course it wouldn't and I don't know of many who do. There is a postoffice up by the police station above the relocated bread shop or at least there once was.

If its a swatch a scan isn't necessarily very accurate since scanners vary as do RGB palettes on different monitors and platform, though PMS color tone numbers are a consistent method if you both have a book on site, it is a pretty good method of color matching.

... and even then it probably won't be the same, as each brand's bases differ in composition;
Brand X's base white differs from Brand Y's, even in the states.

Not all Comex stores will mix all colors shown on their swatches and won't guarantee that the color they produce will match their own Comex swatch, "Its only a photograph; this is the real paint color, indicating the newly-mixed can."

So, its a peace-love-fish taco thing down here with paint as it is with so much of life.

Sending FM3's back and forth we have used DHL in the past, and last year used UPS (as requested by our Accountant). Both worked fine, but they were sent to an address in La Paz.

I'm flying down there next Saturday, if it can wait a week I'll be happy to take it down with me.

Here's a good one, I bought about 2x5 = 10 gallons of paint at comex and had it mixed to their stock code for durzano (orange-yellow.) After painting about 5-6 gallons using both separately with some guys helping me I realized the cans didn't match. I returned to corporate head quarters about a clock away and spoke to the HQ boss. I said I understand, but now what I can do, this project is never going to be finished with the paint changing and we are going to need more. Boss said no problem, I will send someone over to resolve it. I headed back home and when I arrived there was already a comex truck there talking with my guys, Smiling he said, I resolved everything, I mixed the two cans sitting out together-no more problem! Now of course, I had a different color than the previous 2 separate 5gallon cans and different from stock durzano. Now whenever I go to buy to paint, they always say, we can give you paint but we can't guarantee the color so don't complain a lady if it doesn't match. haha

here they will mix the cans in a 50 gallon drum for you so the paint "matches"

Thanks for the offer Jeff. I talked to our accountant and she gave me an address to send it to via UPS so I will try that.
