Traveling done by gringo residents of baja

I've definitely become a homebody. I have big ideas of taking the UTV to the Pacific for some cool weather & surf fishing but always find some reason to stay home. What a shame!

Sounds like we have the same travel habits for the most part. It's pretty easy to settle into a mellow routine at home and not travel too far...other than shopping trips and such.

We explore regularly. We usually try to add a side trip to our drive down and back plus at least one full fledged camping trip somewhere in Baja while we are down. We often take trips on the Polaris to the mountains, Cabo Pulmo, Bahia de los Muertos etc. We have explored and camped......well, most everywhere in Baja but there are still plenty of places to check out. Me, the cats and Cacahuate the wonder dog will be headed South tomorrow for Asuncion then on home to Buena Vista......dt

We love our place so much there, we usually stick pretty close to home......also feel relatively safe there.......

Was bit by wanderlust a long, long ago. After a few decades of rambling around Baja...by boat, plane, Jeep, and afoot..there are not so many places left for discovery.

But that sure doesn't mean I'll stop!

Tally Ho, Watson..the games afoot!

Sirenita & I have checked out tons of great places up & down this great peninsula. Settling in Asuncion has changed my travel lust as there is just nowhere that is nicer than here!!! We go to La Paz once a year...sometimes to see Juan's kids/grandkids...Mulege to visit pals...BOLA to visit family, GN to doctors appointments...STa.Rosalia for permits....ensenada once in awhile for events....agua verde for vacation...la bocana to visit blanca...san ignacio to swim in the presa and visit relatives...so I guess we do get around a bit....but every time I get home, I thank my lucky stars that I live in Asuncion!!!

It is very common for mexicano to travel alot mostly to visit family and to attend parties.

have a safe trip and enjoy, are you a part time resident or full time?

We're in MX more than the States these days. We find that we are more active and much more relaxed in MX....dt

Road trips mean being claustrophobic and hungry and thirsty and wanting to pee, exactly like they did when I was six.

I was in Todos Santos once, riding through it on the bus to Los Cabos.

A little birdie told me the dog does not travel well either!

We explore all the time -- yesterday from Las Barriles to Todos Santos via the East Cape and Las Naranjos -- just for fun. With 150 other cars!!! And home again by 8:00PM

First Place!! - so a good run.

Pompano - 8-30-2010 at 09:04 AM

I travel...quite a lot.

The point..... is not the destination...it's the journey.

There are two distinct gringos types living in Baja:

Those who find a spot, and then make it the entire focus of their trips to Mexico, to keep going back to that spot and working on it or if completed, just staying there, in a sort-of 'comfort-zone'... Often it is in a walled community that JR used to call Gringo Enclave...

The other type is like Pompano, Baja Rob, and a few others who have a home in Baja where they do spend most of their time... but take frequent trips throughout Baja because they know there is so much out there and even if they go to a familiar place again, they will see new stuff...

hmmmmm, we have been here 4 years now and boy do I love exploring .... Copper Canyon was a trip of a lifetime. Todos Santos amazed me !! what a gathering of local art and artisans - I havent seen so much packed together anywhere else I have been to. this year we discovered the SOL DE MAYO waterfall near Santiago. Pretty amazing place. Smack dab inthe middle of the desert and B A M ... a waterfall with a pool you can go swimming in. we went to coyote with toneart and another friends and we saw the ancient rock art. loved seing asuncion for the first time this year and it is indeed one of the most beautiful locations around. and our neck of the woods has one other gringo family .. and we hardly ever see them as both families are busy enjoying life with the mexicanos.

now I haven't been to aqua verde .... need to hunt out info, bye now !

Hey Pompano?

The breed looks like this:

Fine dog..fine nose.
