Anyone know if you can get gas between El Rosario and Guerrero Negro? I have a 265 mile range to dry tanks and don't want to stretch it too far.

Gas from cans at Catavina and at the BOLA turnoff. It's been awhile since I've bought from them but it used to be $15 'merican for an extremely
dented 5 gallon can. Don't complain, it's a tough living.

Don't worry, it is 200 miles to a Pemex (Jesus Maria), and a little more to Guerrero Nego. Gas for sale from 1-2 vendors in Cataviņa (76 miles fromEl
Rosario) and again at the L.A. Bay Jcn. 60 some miles further. Gas is also now advertised at Laguna Chapala. You can take a 41 mile detour into Bahia
de los Angeles which now has two Pemex stations... if you don't want to buy from the independent vendors.

I carry 35 gallons (600+ miles) emergency gas. Got stuck once during a hurricane. Never again. I pour it in to the tank as I return getting close to
the border. That being said; I have never had to use those extra gallons. If I wasn't so paranoid I would carry maybe two 5's.
I miss the adventure of looking for gas in BOLA. I remember the Pemex across from the La Pinta in Cataviņa had a little kid hanging out there (1990?)

Use to be you'd always carry an extra 5 gallons but I haven't in the last 7 + years. I drive an Explorer and think my range is about what you're
talking about. If you would feel better carry an extra 2 1/2 gallons and a 8' siphon hose. Probably want to figure out how to strap it on top cause

Sometimes it's just FUN to plan for the worst scenarios.
My route on the Baja Road is about 650 miles. For the last 40 years before heading southbound..or northbound...I fill the vehicle main & saddle
tanks, the boat tank, and two extra 5 gal strap-on tanks. I'm a traveling gas station.
I have never had to use any of the extra fuel..YET!..but I am confident that if I forgot to top things off, I'd be up the cheek without a paddle.

I have purchased gasoline at both Cataviņa and the L.A. Bay jcn. multiple times including last July... never any problems.
The Cataviņa gas comes from Baja Cactus, El Rosario. It was $16 for 5 gallons... $3.20/ gallon... that is only about a 80 cent mark up per gallon...
and it is a 152 mile round trip to bring it to Cataviņa!

In the last year I have bought barrel gas in Punta Preita and Nuevo Rosarito ~5 times with no issues. I suppose its always a crap shoot as with most

Pompano...keep those things filled! One of my last trips I was counting on gas at Guerro Negro, the one on the highway, and of course it was out and
it would have been a stretch to get to Jesus Maria. Had to go back into town, pay to have my tires sprayed, mess with town and then I was on my way
again. Had an empty 2 1/2 gallon jug with me. Never fails.

Just remember if you do get diesel in your gas tank you probably shouldn't shut off your engine or least don't let it cool off before getting gas in
the tank. Gas engines don't start well on diesel. They usually run OK unless you're pulling a load up a hill.
