speaking of birds...I have noticed the last couple weeks that the migrating shore birds are arriving very early this year...there are already lots of curlew and godwits....must be a cold fall up north for them to be here so soon....wonder if the gray whales will be earlier to then?

You always have the best assortment of birds, Judy. This set, I especially enjoyed the stork.

And shari - I'm not surprised that you've been seeing shore birds arriving for the winter. For the past month I've watched them come into our area to feed and rest, then continue their journey south. The smaller inland birds are also heading south, as well as most of the butterflies. Gonna be an early winter for sure.

Thanks Judy, I am really missing seeing all the birds right now.

I truly appreciate the bird photos of Baja. It's a good comparison to the millions of migratory waterfowl flying overhead here in the northland. Autumn is glorious.

He's back

He is sitting out on my porch right now

Shari; it's been reported in the paper in NorCal that 8-10 grey whales have spent the summer here. The large amount of krill is the reason they think they stayed here instead of completing their usual migration to Alaska.
I think they're just lazy...like me.
